Electronics Engineer - Burton on Trent - 2nd tier Automotive

Our client is part of a large multinational organisation that designs and manufactures small ecus that control automotive seating and climate systems. The group itself is vast but the UK office at Burton is a long established but small R&D development centre that focuses on UK and overseas customers. The UK R&D office numbers 10 staff so there are small company advantages with large company finances.

The appeal of this role is that it is a broad electronics systems role (some hardware, software and mech) and is very client focused. You will have a great deal of responsibility but have autonomy on your projects.

What you will do

As electronics engineer you will be responsible for system engineering modules from concept through to SOP with a particular customer (OEM and tier 1). You will

- work closely with client to understand their requirements and present technical options/solutions

- turn requirements into a functional spec, timing plan and cost plan

- be responsible for overseeing the design and development of electronics, software, PCB and mechatronics with internal and external engineers. This includes design review documentation and preparation of prototype parts

- manage technical solution, timing, costs

- design and deliver robust validation plan (DVP including EMC)

- work with manufacturing to ensure EOL testing is in place

What you will need:

- Degree or HNC in electronics

- Practical electronics skills - bread/vero boarding, scopes, soldering, prototypes, Canalyzer, Canoe

- Some experience in system engineering

- Automotive experience would be advantageous but not essential

- Be eligible to work in UK without sponsorship

What you will get:

- permanent position in a small and friendly, but large automotive organisation

- extremely interesting and varied work - (not just doing schematics or circuit design)

- lots of client involvement

- Salary £32-45K d.o.e
