Jonathan Lee is looking for an Electronics Analogue Engineer to join a leading technology company near Livingston easily commutable from Glasgow or Edinburgh. This is a permeant role with flexible working of 3 days in the office & 2 days working from home.


The Role We are currently growing our technical teams across our business for a number of new projects. These projects will involve you work as part of a global team to deliver innovative solutions for our customers. You’ll be working with a mixed discipline team of engineers (software, hardware, mechanical, quality) to support our medical, telecommunications and aerospace customers.

 We require engineers who:

  • Enjoy learning about multiple technologies;
  • Can think laterally;
  • Are keen to be involved in the complete product development lifecycle from requirements capture into production;
  • And are looking for a technically challenging environment.

 This is the ideal role for a self-starting experienced engineer who wants to move into leadership roles on projects (technical lead for hardware sub-system or even system lead across multiple disciplines); get involved with mentoring junior engineers; and support our continuous improvement activities.

What you will do

  • Design and development across the full lifecycle from concept definition; requirements analysis; detailed design; board bring-up; onto manufacturing support.
  • Create high quality deliverables for our customers including, schematics, layout guidelines, requirements documents, design documents, verification test documents, BOMs and EMC test plans.
  • Drive in discipline continuous improvement activities and support corporate strategic initiatives
  • Plan and deliver your own work, support planning for medium size teams.
  • Mentor and develop junior members of the team.
  • Work closely with mechanical and software engineers during system integration.
  • Support business development activities, from initial customer engagement to creating work breakdown structures and estimates for projects
  • Essential Skills
  • Applicant should have more than 5 years’ experience including a background delivering multiple products into manufacturing
  • Experience of design and developing complex and high-performance electrical hardware including robust power supplies, nimble control systems, precision sensing and instrumentation (ideally for medical, aerospace, defense, and commercial applications)
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management and ability to tailor communication style to the audience.
  • Self-starter with a drive to resolve complex technical issues
  • Excellent schematic capture skills across multiple tools (Cadence, Altium, Mentor)
  • Strong board bring-up, debug and laboratory skills (taking detailed measurements of analogue hardware using standard electrical measurement tools including oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analysers, and network analysers to assess circuit performance, investigate anomalies, and inform design improvements)
  • Good understanding of PCB layout concerns, EMC constraints and component selection/de-rating/
  • Analysing circuit designs with simulation tools such as SPICE and finite element tools

Desired Skills

  • Experience working directly with customers to define requirements and create specifications
  • Knowledge of a formal requirements capture tool – DOORs or Jama.
  • Awareness of Agile development methodologies
  • Experience of supporting Failure Mode Effects and Analyses
  • Experience working in highly regulated environments (IEC 60601, IEC 61010, ATEX etc) and working with formal risk control methodologies
  • Chartered engineer

Required Education/Experience
You should hold an MEng or BEng in Electrical and Electronic engineering, or a related discipline.
