Due to a continued and sustained rise in demand we are looking to recruit an experienced Design Engineer to join a small but specialised and flexible design team and construction department.

The successful applicant will display the following attributes:

The successful applicant will have the following experience and qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a design engineering role
  • Mechanical engineering background
  • Experience of migration of design to workshop fabrication and welding (beneficial)
  • Experience of migration of design to on-site installation (beneficial)
  • Qualified to NVQ4 (HNC) or higher
  • User of 2D and 3D AutoCAD/Inventor
  • Strong MS Office skills
  • A demonstrable knowledge of workplace health and safety

Experience in the lift industry would be an advantage but not essential. This role primarily relates to component design in to manufactured workshop product. Development of knowledge will be given via workshop and site involvement

Applicants for this role will have the chance to develop their skills and experience to be able to:

  • Work in a team of lift designers
  • Assist with design records and documentation
  • Assist with site surveys of existing lifts and buildings
  • Provide hand-drawn sketch work for future development of designs
  • Develop survey and concept sketch work Design
  • Work from survey sketches and data
  • Work from Customer technical specifications
  • Comply with industry standards and regulations
  • Produce calculations and select components/materials to suit
  • Produce general arrangement drawings of lift installations
  • Produce fabrication and welding drawings for the workshop
  • Produce assembly drawings for the workshop and installation teams
  • Provide drawings and specifications for the workshop and lift installation teams
  • Provide material schedules


Record Documentation

  • Support the production of record documentation for design and installation work/SHEQ
  • Support production of CDM2015 designer risk assessments
  • Ensure design work complies with industry and applicable regulations
  • Ensure working practices follow company policies including health and safety, quality, environment and equal opportunities
  • Communicate with Health & Safety, Environment, Quality and Training managers as required in the performance of the work
  • Receive a clear Disclosure & Barring Service check to enable visits to site
