Survivability Engineer - Defence and Military Systems – Permanent – Attractive

A Survivability Engineer is required to join an International Defence Systems company that designs, manufactures, and supports world leading military Systems. The successful Survivability Engineer be integrated into the team and be involved with large Military Engineering Programmes.  As part of the team, you will be given the opportunity of professional development and career progression.  

The Survivability Engineer will be working within a growing team of multi-skilled engineers and specialists, helping to develop, test, field, and support survivability solutions. In response to both internal and customer requirements you will assess and analyse options to provide leading edge engineering solutions appropriate for deployment on a range of platforms. 

The Survivability Engineer is a fantastic opportunity to work as part of the team in a long term fast paced, cutting edge project that will support the British Military for the coming years.

Survivability Engineer will be responsible for the following:

  • Undertaking survivability assessments and developing solutions.
  • Meet customer requirements involving: survivability balancing, vulnerability/threat analysis.
  • Ballistic calculation and analysis, blast assessment etc.
  • Development, integration, and evaluation of the latest survivability technologies.
  • Work with Fire Detection and Suppression Systems and Laser Warning Systems.
  • Work with Active Protection Systems, blast and ballistic armour protection.
  • Generating mechanical design concepts, specifications, solutions, and technical data packs.
  • Conduct survivability trials/testing activities in areas such as blast, ballistics, fire suppression.
  • Development of trials, hardware, plans and reports.
  • Helping to develop the Survivability capability and conduct research.
  • Consult with academia, technology suppliers and Subject Matter Experts.
  • Consult with UK MoD and the wider survivability community.

The Survivability Engineer should have the following Qualifications Skills or Experience:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification or experience within a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Engineering, materials, or physics background.
  • Experience in analytics, problem solving and engineering design.
  • Experience within complex engineering such as: defence, aerospace or nuclear, etc.
  • Experience in planning, estimating, and operating small to medium projects.
  • Enthusiastic and dedicated outlook with the desire to develop personally.
  • Ability to operate both independently and as part of a wider project team.
  • CAD skills – ability to interrogate models and construct concepts.
  • Good written and verbal presentation skills.
  • Ability to hold UK SC security clearance or higher.
  • FEA, CFD or other modelling and simulation capabilities – MATLAB etc.
  • Military platform domain experience – desirable.
  • Excellent communications skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships
  • Capable of working both independently and within a team.
  • Ability to understand and analyse a wide variety of engineering issues
  • Problem solving skills, enthusiastic and highly motivated.

**Security Clearance (SC) will be required due to the nature of the Defence products involved**
