Job Role: Data Controller

Location: Leicester

Salary: £20k-£25k depending upon experience, every other Friday off.

We are currently recruiting a Data Controller to work for leading client within the Aerospace & Defence industry. You will be permanent based at Leicester site.

The successful candidate will need some experience of working within a data control capacity / previous experience of looking at changing data in the context of keeping audit trails / looking at historical data / transition data correctly.

We are looking for someone who is confident in suggesting process improvements. There is room for career progression in this role and we are looking for enthusiastic individuals to help improve processes and progress with the company.

This is fundamentally a data controller position with some data administration tasks

Main Responsibilities and tasks:

  • Provide data control support to the company in a timely manner.
  • Become Subject Matter Expert (SME) and administer relevant data management tools.
  • Help improve and develop new data processes and management systems
  • Submit data under transmittal to diverse recipients using various methods.
  • Receive or retrieve data of in a mixture of media formats.
  • Maintain registers of data movement.
  • Dependant on type, log data within the product lifecycle tool or within the network, maintaining strict revision control where appropriate.
  • Distribute received data to internal recipients in a timely manner.
  • Manage software disc library.
  • Transfer data between applications.
  • Act as intermediary and administrate internal and external approval processes.
  • Ensure all data is submitted, received and distributed in line with all security, commercial and contractual regulations
  • Administer company data management tools, network folders and registers.
  • Check the integrity of incoming and outgoing data and administer in line with company processes.
  • Maintain company distribution list.
  • Maintain software and hard copy data storage.
  • Adhere to Export Controls in transmitting data.
  • Adhere to Security requirements and protocol matrices for data receipt, transmission & distribution
  • Adhere to Data Protection Act.
  • Provide support to the Configuration Manager.

Experience & Qualifications required:

      The successful candidate will need some experience of working within a data control capacity / previous experience of looking at changing data in the context of keeping audit trails / looking at historical data / transition data correctly.

They may be working on a core activity however it is essential they are able to multi task and remain focussed and accurate as they may be dealing with several mini tasks at once all of which will require full attention to detail.

They will need to be quick thinking, flexible, able to work under pressure and be adaptable to the needs of the business.

They need to be able to understand the reasons why they are following certain steps within a process and must be able to challenge and ask questions to ensure and confirm their understanding.

If the candidate has a background of working within aerospace / engineering / construction this would be preferable.

An understanding of using Microsoft packages including Excel and Adobe (this can be a basic understanding but they will need to demonstrate they have used these previously)

Extensive knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office, particularly excel

Knowledge of company data management / product lifecycle management tools

Ability to use ftp sites, manage or add data to disc and knowledge of basic Adobe

Demonstrable knowledge of data management in terms of accuracy, revision control, history and audit traceability

Good communication, time management and organisational skills

Able to follow instruction and work independently as required

Verifiable experience in data control / administration

Able to achieve requisite security clearance

In return for your commitment, our client will offer you:

      Competitive salary of £20-£25k

37 hours per week on average (9 day fortnight, every other Friday is non-working)

25 days annual leave per year (increasing with length of service after 3 years) + bank holidays and a Company day to cover the Christmas closure period

Eligibility for overtime

Bonus of up to 3% of base salary

Pension scheme - employee contributions minimum 4%, employers will match + 1% up to 7%

Life Assurance - 3 x base salary / 6 x base salary if in the Company Pension scheme
