Customs Compliance Coordinator

Up to £17/ph - Inside IR35

Belfast, N. Ireland (with remote working)

Off Highway

The successful incumbent will be exposed to the ongoing management of Customs compliance activity to ensure our clients prime and aftermarket product continuously moves both domestically and across international borders with adherence to regulatory and legislative requirements.

This position is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in driving Customs compliance functions for a global engineering business.

Job Duties/ Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Support preparation and submission of UK and NI Customs reporting to HMRC
  • Demonstrate a level of technical analysis for business reporting purposes, and review the various outputs for reasonableness and accuracy before submission to the relevant government bodies
  • Contribute towards the development, testing and implementation of new and existing reporting procedures, work processes and business metrics, for ongoing compliance with UK and EU legislation to mitigate potential penalties
  • Liaise with HMRC and Trade CoE
  • Monitor third party performance in relation to agreed Customs compliance expectations
  • Advocate an awareness of Customs throughout the business through the provision of training, general support and guidance
  • Support with other ad hoc activities


  • A degree in a comparative business related discipline or extensive relative experience with ability to demonstrate practical standard of competence in customs compliance
  • Sound understanding of risk management and controls environment
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent PC skills, particularly with MS Excel


  • Knowledge of international supply chain processes including incoterms
  • Experience of importing and exporting procedures
  • An understanding of the potential impact of Brexit on a UK based business
  • Experience of SAP order to cash, procure to pay and record to report cycles
  • Familiar with VAT and Customs compliance workbooks and associated self-audit processes
  • Understanding of EU and UK VAT legislation in relation to goods and services
