Customer Quality Engineer

Are you a confident Engineering professional with a proactive nature, understanding of German language and confident communication skills?

 

Operating as an extension of the supplier at customer locations your primary role will be to represent the suppliers core interests while also assisting and supporting the customer on all Quality, Logistical and Supply Chain issues. Maintaining positive and strong relations with the Supplier and the OEM personnel is key!

 

Typical duties for this Customer Quality Engineer role will include;

Complete functional audits of parts (assembly, S&R, etc.. .)

Attend daily verification station review (trim, chassis, body, powertrain, machining, assembly etc.) for your area of responsibility as required.

Attend daily audit meetings; report out on supplier quality issues as required.

Work with your respective quality department and assist in resolution of issues as necessary.

Daily floor walk - focusing on plant processing Issues surrounding the supplier's parts. Also s olicit feedback from operators, team leaders, and Plant Staff on potential issues .

Proactive monitoring & reporting-out on Assembly Plants processing of supplier's parts.

Communicate w/DRE and Launch Team - engineering changes, etc.

Assist Engineering/Reliability/SQ with ETOs, PTRs, and sequencing issues, etc. as required (record CSN breakpoints when requested).

Assist SQ and Plant in PTR's, GCA, 24 hr, Warranty, and JD Power issues/processes as required.

Review scrap and salvage areas, root cause investigations where required.

Complete an audit of components to verify labelling and product characteristics where applicable and if allowed.

Analyse parts deemed to be defective to determine assignable and root causes

When parts are confirmed defective take required steps to protect the OEM production line and support the supplier in resolving the issue to ensure the supply of good parts to the OEM assembly line.

Visit supplier home plants to build relationships and maintain an understanding of the product.

Review Quality Demerits and assist in closure as required - make sure DD&W and 8D are completed and submitted.

Assist and or participate with all contacts in closing customer cost recoveries.

Assist in returning suspect parts for analysis and documenting investigation.

Follow-up on unresolved issues with at the assembly facility and with the customer.

Participate in supplier and OEM meetings as required.

Support build events through various launch phases as required.

 

Key requirements of the role will include;

Understanding Supplier manufacturing and assembly processes.

Understanding product design intent - fit, form, and function.

Understanding Assembly Plant processes and its effect on supplier's part

Understanding Assembly Plant organization and support functions (materials, sequencers, etc).

Understanding material flow of your suppliers parts inside the Assembly Plant.

Understanding entire shipping and logistics supply chain and pipeline and be prepared to support when required.
