Contracts & Commercial Lead

To lead the Contracts and Commercial Development team on behalf of a US aviation manufacturing Group based in Wolverhampton, this role will support two UK sites in both the pursuit of new contracts and the management of existing contracts with an international portfolio of major military and civil customers.

Working closely with the Business Development team and other business functions to ensure commercial success, the role will span the product life cycle including technology agreements, export control agreements, bid support, product development, manufacture and support contracting.

Principal Accountabilities will include:

  • Leadership and development of a team of around 6 people
  • Customer Contract review
  • Summary and communication of key terms
  • Negotiation of contract terms within approved guidelines
  • Drafting of contract terms to address business case assumptions
  • Business case modelling / identifying inputs to the business case model
  • Contract risk and opportunity management
  • Providing contracts and commercial support to multi-functional teams
  • Continuous improvement of business processes

Knowledge and Skills:

The right candidate will be able to demonstrate their potential to succeed in a leading contracts role.   Experience of both civil and military aerospace contracting, would be an advantage including US government terms.   Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential as are excellent preparation and planning skills.

The role will demand an attention to detail and methodical approach together with good problem solving and negotiation ability.   The candidate will enjoy working with customers and colleagues to reach agreement in a demanding environment.
