Aerospace and Defence - Competitive - Permanent - Leicestershire

A Commercial Manager is required to join the Commercial Team within a market leading Innovative Defence Systems Company. The Commercial Manager will report to the Commercial Executive and will be responsible for leading the negotiation and management of the contractual interfaces with the customers and major subcontractors.

Commercial Manager - Key Responsibilities and Leading

  • Liaison with customer and suppliers on contract details
  • Maintenance of contract baseline including terms and conditions
  • Negotiation of contracts and change proposals
  • Flow down of commercial requirements for subcontracts
  • Supervision of competitive bidding for subcontracts
  • Progress invoices and payments and managing subcontractors
  • Advise programme team of legal and contractual obligations
  • Ensure compliance with export control regulations
  • Cost model preparation for new bids.
  • Monitor programme activities to define an eligible charge to the customer
  • Progress Milestone Claims, Invoices and Payments (monthly cycle)

Technical Skills and Experience for Commercial Manager

  • Relevant knowledge of legal and contractual obligations - Essential
  • Ideally being Educated to degree level within International or Commercial Law
  • Proven experience within an industry with emphasis on high value international contracts
  • Proven successful experience in leading negotiation of complex contracts
  • Strong business and commercial acumen with Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Knowledge of export control regulations and a flexible approach to working hours
  • Extensive travel and working in locations across the UK
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office packages
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and deliver on tight timeframes
  • Relevant experience in large development and procurement programmes
  • Background in UK MOD procurement conditions is Desirable
  • There may be some overseas travel
