Job Title: Colour and Materials Designer 

Division: Design

Contract Position based at: Gaydon with some travel

Our Warwickshire based client is seeking a Colour and Materials designer to support new and exciting project delivery. you will have the responsibility for designing and developing colour & materials for from an interior and exterior point of view from Concept through to Job 1 and beyond. (Initially the role will be focused on Realisation content.)

Reporting to the Realisation Colour and Materials Manager, the individual will be responsible for:

The Role:

  • Responsible for the development of interior/exterior body and trim finishes and surface materials in terms of colour, aesthetic and tactile qualities and the selection and application
  • A collaborative approach will be required to build on program ideas as projects as they move from Creation to Realisation, influencing the design direction of a project with a high degree of creativity and solutions that can be analyzed, developed and lead independently
  • Negotiating against cost and feasibility issues to achieve customer satisfaction and detailed liaison with Interior / Exterior Designers, Sales and Marketing, Engineers and Suppliers
  • Responsible for agreeing design changes and communicating direction to team and suppliers and for coordinating suppliers to deliver on time
  • Flexibility to carry out work on different programme activities dependent on business needs.

Experience Required:

  • A good understanding of a product design field and design process combined with good aesthetic judgement, colour vision and colour perception. Evidence of design development and implementation of colour and materials
  • Good communication skills and the ability to relate to and communicate at all levels. Ability to present ideas for direction and create multimedia presentations to communicate these
  • Passion for Colour and Material Technology and Design as evidenced by up to date in field literature, innovations and Trends
  • Proven creative and presentation skills, including advanced use of Photoshop and Illustrator software and ability to use internet resources appropriately for research purposes
  • Proven years` experience in automotive or other design field
  • 3D Software a bonus but not essential
