CNC Machinist Operator - Rail Sector - Permanent - Attractive - Rosyth Area

A CNC Machinist Operator is required to join an established company with a good reputation in the Rail Sector. The successful CNC Machinist Operator will report directly to the Production Supervisor and they will join the machining department.

The CNC Machinist Operator will operate CNC Milling machines and produce machined components to the production plan, in a safe and efficient manner, the CNC Machinist Operator will work within the planned production time and to the required quality.

Responsibilities and Skills Required of the CNC Machinist Operator

  • To load/unload machine orientation in a safe and efficient manner
  • Using manufacturing instructions select the correct program
  • Load the required tools correctly prepared in the correct stations
  • Set all required machine parameters as per the set-up sheet
  • To report any damage to cutters to the Supervisor/Tooling Engineer
  • To store tooling in a secure and orderly manner
  • To maximise tool life by carefully monitoring wear rates
  • Whilst machining to operate the machine in a safe and responsible manner
  • The operator must not leave the machine unattended whilst it is in cycle
  • Programs are to be modified generally by the NC Programmer
  • Minor changes, which do not affect product geometry, may be undertaken by operator
  • To inspect products either on completion of machining or pre-machining
  • Use of conventional measurement techniques using gauges or instruments
  • To carry out required machine parameter changes associated with the set up
  • To test/dry run new or modified programs using appropriate machine functions
  • Making required adjustments to machine and tool offsets to achieve the required size

Experience and Qualifications Required for the CNC Machinist Operator

  • City & Guilds within Setting/Operating and Part Programming
  • CNC Operator experience, with some programming knowledge
  • Know how to load/unload and carry out a syntax check
  • Ability to diagnose errors and how to restart a program mid-cycle
  • To carry out tool changes and understand tool and fixture offsets
  • Achieve the required tolerances of manufacture
  • Understand the basic structure of a program
