Are you a Characterisation Engineer with Battery Process Development experience interested in working with one of the most innovative technology pioneers on the planet? We are looking for a Characterisation Engineer with a background in battery characterisation and manufacturing techniques to Join the energy storage team in a brand-new state of the art R&D facility based in Wiltshire. As a Characterisation Engineer - Battery Process Development, your day-to-day responsibilities will consist of;

  • Developing capabilities across a range of materials processing, cell assembly and characterisation techniques.
  • Characterising custom materials and components for cells, enabling the next generation of the companies products.
  • Using a combination of practical experience and creative thinking, in in-line and offline materials characterisation, alongside continuous improvement methods, to screen, specify, implement, optimise and exploit both novel and established characterisation techniques that will enable prototype cells, on time and according to specific project objectives.
  • Ensuring characterisation quality and robustness: from sampling strategies, to method validation, to calibration and the use of appropriate standards/references, to data integrity and traceability, to continuous improvement and the introduction of novel techniques to further contemporary knowledge.
  • Working within a multidisciplinary team to contribute to the development of novel materials, prototype cells and disruptive processes, leading towards the transfer to manufacture.
  • Delivering operational and/or technical tasks and processes across a range of core operational activities across the engineering lifecycle.

 

An exciting opportunity for an Experienced Characterisation Engineer - Battery Process Development with the following;

 

Experience in a chemical, physical science or engineering discipline relevant to characterisation and battery manufacturing techniques (Prior experience of the materials and processes used in the energy storage industry a distinct advantage)

  • Relevant industrial experience with a background in the chemical, battery, electronics, aerospace, assembly industries.
  • Practical experience of accurate, precise (and sometimes repetitive) characterisation, whilst maintaining quality over extended periods.
  • knowledge of analytical and characterisation techniques used in chemical and materials characterisation (notably physical, chemical, mechanical, thermal, electrical techniques)
  • Experience of process development and technology transfer
  • Understanding of process research and development
