A Catia V5 Design Engineer is required to join the Engineering Team to support customer projects for a leading aerospace and defence company based at their facility. The Catia V5 Design Engineer will be need knowledge of mechanical design and conception, and knowledge of relevant drawing standards (i.e., BS 8888). The Catia V5 Design Engineer will also need to have knowledge of geometric tolerancing best practice, knowledge of manufacturing techniques (conventional and advanced) and how these affect the design and drawings.

Catia V5 Design Engineer - Key Responsibilities and Experience Required

  • Experience in the Space domain
  • Using the necessary CAD software (Catia or Solid Works)
  • Generate Mechanical designs of parts and assemblies needed for space project equipment
  • Participate in design trade-off activities
  • Manage the tree structure of the product, using the appropriate PLM tool if necessary (i.e., Enovia)
  • Manage the status, versions and issues of parts and assemblies
  • Generate 2-D drawings for parts, assemblies, and interface definition
  • Generate files needed for analysis inputs and generate BoMs
  • Generate the documents and review materials needed to support projects and reviews.
  • Check designs (their own and others) for the completeness and correctness of information
  • Check for tolerance build-ups and assembly/integration sequences

Skills and Knowledge Required for Catia V5 Design Engineer

  • Degree within Mechanical Engineering
  • Aero Structures & Systems knowledge
  • Experience of working in a multi-discipline team environment with project pressures
  • Experience dealing with customers, partners, suppliers' interface
  • Good communication in English (oral & written) & Interpersonal skills
  • Customer focus - ability to build and develop customer & supplier relationships
  • Organisational agility and problem-solving ability
  • Logical thinking and effective time management
  • Ideally and desirable would be experience with specific CAD modules below:
      • Sheetmetal
      • Pipe routing
      • Harnessing
      • ALM design
      • Cinematics
