CAS Surfacing Manager - Coventry - Competitive permanent salary with attractive benefits package

Summary of department and role:

  • To assist in and manage the creation of aesthetically-optimised surfaces that maintain design intent and are to a high quality of execution for engineering and downstream customers
  • Coordinate daily surfacing activity to support NPI release schedules at CAS0-CAS4 gateways
  • To assist the creative process by interpreting 2D sketches in 3D data for design iteration and approval
  • To assist the technical development process by integrating engineering, manufacturing and key technical attributes concurrently with design intent during surface creation
  • To maintain quality standards appropriate to program phases, in line with company standards
  • Ensure FC criteria are met at point of release
  • Provide POC support for the creation and release of data to support physical model and validation properties including ACM

Main activities and tasks:

  • Allocate and manage surfacing tasks of a daily basis
  • Sketch 3D Surfaces to aid aesthetic Design development
  • Create initial theme surface proposals to support aesthetic and feasibility studies
  • Report roadblocks to surface development
  • Assess surfaces for compliance with TML technical tolerances
  • Represent digital modelling in VMT and Integration meetings
  • Interface with studio engineering and design in the prioritisation of CAS activities
  • Ensure compliance with open engineering requests
  • Ensure compliance with timing commitments

Other features of role:

  • Compile and prepare content for CAS reviews (PQ/Design surface)
  • Provide any reference CAS information (eg: points) to assist clay development
  • Generate data to support hard modelling activity
  • Assist with data creation for visualisation
  • Maintain persistant surface model
  • Maintain surface input tracking mechanism and report status daily to Senior Manager - Digital Operations
  • Assist Senior Manager - Digital Operations with programme planning
  • Interact with Class A Manager to plan guide path into production surfacing activity
  • Interface with third party CAS support service providers

Person specification:

  • Automotive or relevant industry experience
  • A minimum of 3 years Alias Surfacing experience within the automotive industry
  • A minimum of 3 years in a lead role within a surfacing team
