Salary circa £30,000, plus pension, 11 floating holiday days, every other Friday off, Summer and Christmas shut down.

We are working with a well-established manufacturing and distribution business that supply high quality equipment to both consumer and business to business organisations in several key sectors.

The business has asked us to assist in the search for a Buyer to join the team.

As Buyer you must be able to negotiate with Suppliers to reduce Purchasing spends. Manage inventory planning to support the production plan. Support the Purchasing Manager (and deputise) in managing the Purchasing Team with day-to-day activities and monthly agreed targets.

You will Manage a portfolio of key supplier spends (as agreed by the Purchasing Manager). And be involved from sourcing parts, ensuring the parts meet the company’s technical requirements and perform to the agreed supplier performance criteria. Work within a team to help with various purchasing projects (i.e., cost down activities related to direct and indirect spends).

It is expected that you will be able to complete various stock control activities. Utilise dynamics AX MRP system to ensure inventory is ordered to meet the production plan demand.  Monitor supplier performance and assist with various stock control and supplier queries.

The business uses office 365 modules to communicate and help manage projects, and you will work closely with the Purchasing Manager to ensure that supplier and part changes are communicated to other teams succinctly.

Ideally you will have A good understanding of technical CAD drawings and ISO9001 will be an advantage, along with a basic knowledge of various Japanese ‘work methods’ (i.e., Kaizen, Gemba & 5S).

As Buyer, you will be expected to meet with Suppliers on a regular basis to review supplier performance levels and quality performance. Agree an improvement plan to ensure continuous high levels of customer service.

The role will involve travel both in the UK & Overseas
