Building Services Engineer/Snr Engineer.

Salary up to £50,000 (DoE) + car allowance & pension
Location: Birmingham

A Building Services Engineer is required for this established firm of Consulting Forensic Engineers they offer a worldwide service in all technical aspects of legal, insurance and commercial investigations. With a long history they are market leaders in this highly specialised field. As part of an ongoing expansion and succession plan, the business is now looking to recruit an experienced Building Services Engineer to cater for a wide range building services and related electrical work.

As a Building Services Engineer you will be given full training that will enable you to investigate serious incidents that require forensic analysis. This information will be used to provide expert witness reports concerning a wide range of incidents, accidents and disputes. To be considered for this interesting Building Services Engineer role you will ideally be qualified to degree level in a related discipline and have or be working towards membership of an appropriate professional body (CIBSE, CIOB, IMechE, IET, IOSH, IAM, BIFM). At least 5 years practical experience post qualification in building services or closely related disciplines such as construction, facilities management or asset management will be required. A working knowledge and understanding of the following building services would be useful:

  • Acoustics
  • Health & Safety
  • Heating
  • Fire Safety Systems
  • Lifts & Escalators
  • Lighting
  • Power & Supply (Electricity, Gas, Water)
  • Security

You may also have specialist knowledge within:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Heating, ventilation, refrigeration & air conditioning
  • Lighting
  • Façade Engineering
  • Energy

As a well-qualified Building Services professional, you will have a working history that demonstrates continued professional development. It is essential that you can explain and present technical information and concepts in a format that is easy to understand. As such you must have excellent report writing and presentation skills, full training (legal and expert witness) will be given. Based on success promotion to Partner level is realistic and will be actively encouraged.
