Job Title: Analytical and Corrosion Technologist

Location:  Wednesbury, West Midlands  

Salary: £Negotiable dependent on experience  

Overview:

  • We are currently recruiting for an Analytical and Corrosion Technologist to work for our client at their facility in the West Midlands, the role will be responsible for the timely preparing, testing and reporting of materials in line with agreed management system manual and procedures. 
  • Utilising all available equipment and resources, always ensuring adherence Client and Customer service level agreements, also involved in evaluating and putting forward/implementing suggestions for improvement as appropriate
  • Involved in supporting and uphold the company values and customer service culture of the department to meet the strategic goals of the business with the emphasis on innovation

 

Main Objectives:

  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of the end-to-end testing process within your areas of responsibility with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation
  • To ensure the management system is accurately maintained with test and service records being input within the agreed format
  • Ensure we deliver a consistently high standard of experience for our customers by maintaining & championing a customer service culture, ensuring at all times adherence to Client and Customer service level agreement/s
  • To make a contribution to the growth and success of the business by supporting the departmental and business plans

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out all sample preparation including cutting where appropriate
  • In line with business requirements, accurately carry out sample preparation and testing of spark emission samples and reporting in accordance with the documented management system
  • In line with business requirements, conduct Leco C+S & N calibration, preparation, analysis and testing and reporting in accordance with the documented management system
  • In line with agreed procedures and business requirements carry out digestion and analysis by ICP technique, testing and reporting in accordance with the documented management system
  • Provide support, if required, in line with agreed procedures and business requirements carry out sample preparation and testing to various intergranular corrosion methods such as ASTM G48/G28 and ASTM A262 and reporting in accordance with the documented management system
  • Provide support, if required, in neutral salt spray and other environmental testing, reporting fully and in line with business requirements and in accordance with the documented management system
  • To assist in sample preparation and product testing in other areas of the Laboratory as customer demands dictate
  • Support your line manager and team members in the contract review process with the timely coordination, planning and progressing of jobs within the system, providing customer feedback (written and verbal) where required, ensuring agreed process is adhered to
  • Accurately costing jobs for invoicing purposes, monitoring and filing in line with agreed practices
  • Consider risk and opportunities associated with laboratory activities, identifying areas for improvement and implementing any necessary actions
  • At all times, act confidentially and impartially in accordance with the laboratories documented management system
  • Ensure the physical condition of the department and work areas are acceptable and in line with agreed standards, supporting too the inspecting of equipment
  • Provide daily, weekly and monthly reporting as advised, in line with your objectives
  • Liaise with our customers in respect of contract review and the provision of technical advice within your field of expertise, ensuring customer service satisfaction is maintained and consistently focused on, escalating any areas of concern to your line manager
  • To assist management in any other related tasks to enhance the efficiency of our service in line with business needs
  • Adopt safe working practices in line with current Company procedures and to undertake appropriate training in Health and Safety.
  • Ensure GDPR/data protection guidelines are adhered to at all times
  • Have a personal current up to date appraisal/development plan in operation at all times so that you undertake appropriate learning and development activities for your role

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ideally educated to degree standard (appropriate discipline) or working towards, and/or relevant work experience in this area
