An Aftertreatment Simulation Engineer is required to support the optimisation of diesel engine systems and powertrain. Candidates with experience of planning and executing diesel engine systems simulation studies would be well received.

Due to increased workloads this company, a respected powertrain engineering consultancy based in Basildon, requires a proactive Aftertreatment Simulation Engineer, to be based at their client's site in Peterborough, to ensure that all target criteria are met and that the powertrain works to its full efficiency in all operating conditions. As an Aftertreatment Simulation Engineer you will be required to:

  • Support conceptualisation studies for future powertrain
  • Supporting and development of physical engine test plans
  • Analysis of results and preparation of recommendations
  • Liaison and reporting to various functions within the organisation
  • Controls development and mathematical modelling using Matlab/Simulink
  • Through simulation and providing predictions on product performance and variability on engine systems such as aftertreatment


The Aftertreatment Simulation Engineer should have the following skills or experience:

  • Degree qualified in an engineering discipline
  • Good knowledge of Combustion engine fundamentals
  • Understanding of exhaust after treatment performance
  • Understanding of DoE and emissions modelling
  • Experience using Matlab and Simulink to develop mathematical models
  • Knowledge and experience of specifying Diesel Engine attributes and components is advantageous
  • Understanding of worldwide emissions legislation is beneficial
