Systems Engineer - Permanent - Bristol Area

Attractive - Aerospace and Defence

A Systems Engineer is required within an Advanced Aerospace and Defence Services Organisation. The Systems Engineer will be one of the key players in technical services and technology solutions and Innovation of new technologies within research and development environment.

The Systems Engineer will support upcoming programmes of work to meet the customer's needs. The Systems Engineer will be working within the aircraft development domain. The Systems Engineer will join the Control and Simulation Department and Report to the Principal Engineer.

The Systems Engineer will Initially be deployed to Japan all expenses paid and then return to the UK. Accommodation will be provided, subsistence allowance and an incentive payment on top of the usual UK salary will be paid whilst the employee is deployed to Japan.

As the Systems Engineer you will be required to:

  • Interact with internal and external customers on a technical level
  • Deliver engineering solutions at a consistently high standard within given budget
  • Preparation, presentation of technical reports and proposals
  • Provide technical direction within the delegated area of responsibility
  • Maintain the project documentation in line with the quality plan
  • Ensure given tasks achieve their full objectives
  • Manage multiple tasks and deliver within agreed timescales and budgets
  • Interact with other engineers on a technical and project level

The Systems Engineer should have the following skills, qualifications and experience:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a related discipline
  • Preferably Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Mathematics
  • Relevant industrial experience within the aerospace sector
  • Knowledge of system modelling and MATLAB/Simulink tools
  • Able to demonstrate a good understanding of system engineering
  • Experience working with configuration management and version control
  • Strong interpersonal skills and will be working as part of a development team
  • Experience of System validation & verification
  • Experience of test and analysis methods
  • Report writing and presentation skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook
  • An appreciation (academic or industry) of modelling and simulation is beneficial
  • The ability to solve problems independently
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, work effectively within a team or independently
  • Good interpersonal skills, diplomatic and professional approach
  • The confidence and desire to gain a full understanding of issues
  • Good organisational skills, including record keeping
