Advanced Measurement Mechanical Engineer - Powertrain Development - Northampton - Permanent - £Competitive + Benefits
I am seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join a prestigious powertrain manufacturer who design, develop and test powertrain units in their facility in Northampton. The position has been created to develop and deploy innovative measurement solutions to benefit the client's performance power unit. As a technical engineering specialist, you will propose and Implement measurement solutions to validate simulation models. As Advanced Mechanical Engineer you will also propose and Implement measurement solutions to understand and analyse power unit failures

What you will do
As Advanced Mechanical Engineer;

  • Identify innovative measurement solutions that could benefit the PU
  • Design mechanical components to create and implant bespoke systems in the PU
  • Sign off the measurement solutions prior to their deployment outside of the group
  • Produce all relevant documentation to allow deployment within the business (fitting, connecting and logging instructions).
  • Check & Understand demands from Product Engineering or Simulation departments
  • Advise customers on the most suitable solution for an application - Design mechanical components to implement that solution



What you will need
As Advanced Mechanical Engineer;

  • High grade degree in a relevant engineering subject
  • Excellent understanding of mechanical problems (static and dynamic)
  • Proven track record in industry of designing mechanical components/assemblies using CATIA and simple FEA
  • Excellent knowledge of sensing techniques
  • Good knowledge of Power Unit environment and constraints
  • Curious and tenacious
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated and flexible with positive approach to new problems
  • Disciplined and methodical
