Account Manager – Polymers


A leading company in lightweight engineering solutions is seeking a highly experienced and motivated account manager to support business growth, customer satisfaction and operational excellence. As a business professional with automotive experience, you will be motivated for personal and business success as part of the senior team.

Job Function & Key Purpose (summary)
Responsible for managing Key customer accounts, act as the first point of escalation.

  • Maintain strong relationships at all levels within the OEM.
  • Ensures business delivers on cost quality & delivery commitments.
  • Manage RFQ process.
  • Compilation of customer quotations, supporting through development and DFMA, NPI and engineering changes.
  • Managed customer data flow, technical, revision control, timing and volumes to enable accurate BOM creation and planning.
  • Responsible for cadence of customer orderbook mgmt. (Series & Spares), OTD, price book, supplier chain costing and customer Liaison regarding demand and supply.
  • Support the Business Unit Director to develop an excellence and continuous improvement attitude to the business and lean thinking manufacturing organisation.

Principle Accountabilities (summary)

Is directly accountable to the BU Director for the Key Customer Account Management across the organisation.

  • Responsible in conjunction with the senior leadership team for ensuring activities meet company & customer requirements.
  • Monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPI), to ensure the business meets all output goals.
  • Working with Purchase and Logistics to ensure all activities meet customer requirements.
  • Support business development and implementation of processes and procedures.
  • Achievement of sales targets.
  • Maintain conformance to defined quality standards; TS16949, AS9100, etc.
  • Ensure business standards, processes and procedures are always maintained.
  • Ensure Health and Safety Policy adherence at all times.
  • Drive the reduction of waste with the production operations.


  • Knowledge of Polymer manufacturing processes and capacity management.
  • Understanding of MRP systems.
  • Ability to read Engineering Drawings.
  • Coaching, mentoring and leadership skills.
  • A hands-on leader with good leadership skills; a motivator with strong communication skills, capable of developing and leading multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, organisation, negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Through an analytical approach ability to recognise potential challenges and opportunities for improvement in business and customer management.
  • Finance Business Interest: Interest in commercial or fiscal management.
  • Autonomous thinker and proactive in driving change
  • Effective planner.

Education, Experiences & Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years senior commercial and operational management experience
  • A proven track record of delivering results at a senior level in the automotive manufacturing sector
  • Appreciation of process improvement tools and techniques
  • Degree educated – desirable
