International Trade Compliance Manager - Germany

Based near Frankfurt, our internationally based €150m t/o automation equipment and components Client is seeking an experienced International Trade Compliance Manager to support their compliance on all international trade matters (Import & Export) with European, UK, US and Singapore export controls within the business as well as supporting their primary shipping coordination and activity.

Leading an international team of 10 export/trade personnel, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and ensuring adherence to international trade regulations, customs compliance, and export/import laws across their global shipping operations. Reporting to the Head of Operations and working across 4 global locations in the UK, US, Germany and Singapore this highly visible role is particularly strategically focused on further development of their US activity and developing stronger relationships with carriers.

Key responsibilities including:

-    Develop, implement, and maintain global trade compliance strategies in alignment with international regulations, ensuring the legality and efficiency of shipments.

-    Remain up to date on changes in trade laws, tariffs, commodity codes and regulations across regions, providing guidance and updates to your team and relevant departments.

-    Collaborate closely with logistics, operations & commercial teams to streamline processes and optimize international shipments.

-    Liaison with global Entrust Logistics staff and freight forwarders to drive efficiency and cost savings in transportation.

-    Oversee the completion of Export/Import documents for timeliness and accuracy.

-    Ensuring the correct application of customs legislation in terms of valuation, tariff classification and country of origin (preferential and non-preferential) across all sites.

-    Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, handling enquiries, audits and maintaining necessary licenses and permits.

-    Ensure auditable record keeping is implemented and followed for exports/imports across all sites.

-    Deliver training to both current and new employees on compliance procedures and internal processes.

-    Management of third-party service providers, conduct regular performance meetings and establishing action plans when necessary.

-    Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks and compliance issues that may impact their global shipping operations.

-    Managing the Global Trade Teams based in Frankfurt, Chicago, Singapore and Stafford (UK) ensuring they are up to date with customs legislative and regulatory knowledge in their location.

You will need to have/be:

-    Minimum of 5 years of experience in international trade compliance, customs regulations, freight forwarding or related fields within a multinational company.

-    Demonstrate in depth knowledge and comprehensive understanding of international trade laws, customs regulations, and export/import compliance requirements.

-    Experience in managing global compliance programs and navigating complex regulatory environments.

-    Have an open communication style and be happy to share your knowledge and mentor other team members with the ability to forward think and change your approach to suit changing goals.

-    Bachelor's degree or relevant qualification in international Business or related field

-    Professional certifications in trade compliance (e.g. Certified Global Trade Compliance Professional) are a plus.

-    Pro-actively solve problems by taking responsibility and being tenacious.

-    Drive and enthusiasm to grow into larger projects and roles and not being afraid to change the way things are done.
