Electrical Improver

Location: Derbyshire (DE12 7BS)

Contract: 12+ Weeks

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8-hour days (7:30am start)

Rate: Competitive hourly rate (DOE)

We are currently recruiting for an Electrical Improver to join an established fire & Security contractor on an industrial project based near Derby (DE12 7BS).

This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy site with an initial 12+ week contract, with the potential for ongoing work for the right individual.

The Role

Working alongside Approved Electricians, you'll be involved in a range of industrial electrical installation works, including:

  • Pulling and dressing cables.
  • Assisting with power and installations.
  • Installing electrical equipment and accessories.
  • Supporting the F&S team to deliver work safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous industrial electrical installation experience is essential.
  • Experience working on industrial sites carrying out electrical installation work.
  • Valid ECS Card.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively as part of an installation team.
  • Reliable with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.

Electrical Improver Required - Industrial Projects

We're currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Improver to support a range of industrial electrical installation projects at a major manufacturing facility in Telford.

Working alongside Approved Electricians and Supervisors, you'll assist with the installation of electrical systems and equipment on a busy industrial site, contributing to the successful delivery of ongoing projects.

The Role

As an Electrical Improver, you'll play a key role in supporting electrical installation work while developing your skills within a fast-paced industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with industrial electrical installations.
  • Install containment systems including cable tray, basket, trunking and conduit.
  • Pull, dress and secure power and control cables.
  • Assist with cable glanding and terminations.
  • Support the installation of motors, control panels and other industrial equipment.
  • Read and work from electrical drawings under supervision.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and site safety.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with site procedures and current regulations.
  • Work closely with electricians and the wider project team to deliver work safely and efficiently.

About You

To be considered, you'll ideally have:

  • Previous experience as an Electrical Improver within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • ECS Electrical Labourer/Improver Card.
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Electrical Installation qualification (or equivalent).
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (desirable).
  • Experience installing containment and assisting with cable installation.
  • Good understanding of health and safety on construction or industrial sites.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team with a proactive attitude.
  • Willingness to learn and develop your electrical installation skills.
  • IPAF

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established engineering team working on a variety of electrical installation, upgrade and maintenance projects within a busy industrial environment.

The Role

Working as part of a skilled site team, you'll be responsible for carrying out high-quality electrical installation work while ensuring all activities are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with current regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Industrial electrical installation work.
  • Installation of containment including tray, basket, trunking and conduit.
  • Cable pulling, terminating and glanding.
  • Installation and connection of motors, control panels and industrial equipment.
  • Electrical modifications and project installation work.
  • Reading and interpreting electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Testing and inspecting completed installations where required.
  • Ensuring all work complies with BS7671 and site health and safety procedures.
  • Working collaboratively with supervisors, engineers and other trades to deliver projects on schedule.

About You

To be considered, you'll ideally have:

  • Approved Electrician status.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • ECS/JIB Gold Card.
  • Previous experience within industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • Experience installing industrial containment and power distribution systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong commitment to safe working practices.
  • IPAF (essential).

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established UK manufacturer for an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to lead HS&E activities across three manufacturing sites in the Midlands.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and hands-on HS&E professional who enjoys working closely with operational teams, driving continuous improvement and influencing a positive safety culture across a multi-site manufacturing environment.

Reporting directly to the Board, you'll play a key role in ensuring legal compliance, maintaining management systems and supporting the business's ongoing commitment to health, safety and environmental excellence.

The Role

As the HS&E Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading all aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental compliance across three manufacturing facilities.
  • Maintaining and developing ISO45001 and ISO14001 management systems and accreditations.
  • Conducting risk assessments, audits, inspections and incident investigations.
  • Producing and maintaining HS&E documentation, policies and safe systems of work.
  • Driving a culture of continuous improvement in health, safety and environmental performance.
  • Advising senior leadership on HS&E strategy, legislation and compliance.
  • Delivering employee health, safety and environmental training.
  • Mentoring Health & Safety Representatives and Fire Safety Representatives while chairing Safety Committee meetings.
  • Managing occupational health surveillance programmes through external providers.
  • Overseeing environmental compliance, including permits, waste management and emissions control.
  • Liaising with regulatory bodies, local authorities and emergency services where required.
  • Managing external contractors and ensuring safe working practices across all sites.

About You

We're looking for someone who can confidently engage with colleagues at every level of the business and who enjoys balancing operational involvement with strategic leadership.

You'll ideally have:

  • A minimum of five years' experience as a Health, Safety & Environmental Manager within a manufacturing environment.
  • NEBOSH qualification (essential).
  • Strong knowledge of ISO45001 and ISO14001 management systems.
  • Experience carrying out audits, risk assessments and accident investigations.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with a genuine "can-do" attitude.
  • The ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities across several sites.
  • Good IT skills and strong report writing ability.
  • Flexibility to travel weekly between manufacturing facilities.

Desirable experience includes:

  • Graduate IOSH membership.
  • Qualified trainer status.
  • Internal Auditor qualification.

Controls Engineer

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Controls Engineer to join a well-established engineering business specialising in the design and manufacture of bespoke automated machinery and special-purpose equipment.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will play a key role in the design, programming, commissioning and ongoing development of innovative automation solutions for customers across a variety of industries.

This role offers a combination of office-based engineering, hands-on commissioning and occasional customer site work, making it ideal for someone who enjoys seeing projects through from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop PLC software and machine control systems for bespoke automation projects.
  • Produce functional specifications and machine control documentation.
  • Ensure all control systems comply with current safety standards and best engineering practices.
  • Support design reviews, risk assessments and design feasibility studies.
  • Commission, test and fault-find PLC-controlled machinery both in-house and at customer sites.
  • Work closely with mechanical, electrical and project engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and customer acceptance activities.
  • Provide technical support to installation and commissioning teams.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation throughout each project.
  • Liaise directly with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department.

About You

We're looking for an engineer who has:

  • HNC, HND or Degree qualification in Electrical, Controls or Automation Engineering (or equivalent industry experience).
  • Previous experience in a Controls Engineer position within industrial automation or special purpose machinery.
  • Strong PLC programming experience using Siemens S7 / TIA Portal.
  • Experience with Ford FAST Programming would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Schneider Electric Unity or PL7 is beneficial but not essential.
  • A sound understanding of machinery, automation systems and mechanical engineering principles.
  • Experience commissioning and fault-finding automated equipment.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience using CAD packages such as EPLAN or AutoCAD would be advantageous.
