Product Development Engineer

Product Development Engineer - Consumer Domestic Goods - Warwickshire - £35k to £40k DOE. The business has been developing innovative products for over 200 years, its been going for so long the company holds awards given by the Victorians. Product and manufacturing innovation is still at the heart of everything the business does and this year is no exception with additional investment into the design and development of the next generation of products as well as innovating existing lines. We are looking for you to join an existing team of around 15 Design and Development Engineers who are responsible for developing new innovative features and technical improvements while working with site Industrial and Manufacturing Engineers in bringing new ideas to fruition. As a team you will be ensuring that bills of materials, spares, data files and technical documentation are in place to support manufacturing and also to support sales and marketing teams with product promotional activities. The product is what could be described as white goods which includes electrical and gas combustion so any experience in this area and of associated testing would be an advantage. A lot of the product is produced in sheet metal so this is another area we are keen to see experience. Other materials and associated manufacturing processes include plastics, rubber, foam, coatings, adhesives, electrical and gas components. We don't expect you to have experience of all of this and training will be given in some areas but candidates with broad materials experience would be very appealing. The skills you need: You will need to be trained, experienced and capable in applying FMEA, DFM and DFA and other techniques to minimise risk and optimise designs. Both 2D and 3D CAD experience are essential, Solidworks would be preferred although we will consider other 3D packages such as Pro Engineer or similar. You will ideally have a good level of appreciation for manufacturing techniques and processes allowing you to consider cost drivers. Most products and developed or re engineered on a project basis as part of a multi disciplined team so experience of working to deadlines in what can be a pressured environment would be awesome. Quality Assurance Engineer - Automotive - Plastic Moulded Components - Birmingham with some regular travel to one other site - Up to Circa £40k DOE. This multi site business operating globally and with several site in the UK are experts in rapid prototyping and short low volume productions runs delivering both large and small plastic moulded components to R&D teams and aftermarkets within the automotive sector. To support a new project win we are seeking a QA or Quality Assurance Engineer to work predominantly across the low volume production element of the business on all NPI activities. It is envisaged that you will act as the Quality authority throughout the product development life cycle with responsibility for ensuring quality requirements are addressed throughout the engineering development of new products. You will identify and embed new products into the quality management system and ensure a smooth handover of embedded new products to production quality teams. Some key areas of responsibility in the role will include: Quality Planning - ability to effectively flow down Customer specific requirements and ensuring capture of all quality requirements relating to the achievement of product compliance. Generation of Quality plans to meet product requirements, including costs, feasibility and customer requirements. As you would expect from a market leader the site based in Shropshire is always looking for ways to improve and to this end are looking for you, a site Industrial Engineer. Your general duties will see you looking for ways to improve production by looking at a combination of people, machinery, process flow, production layout, materials and site stock levels. Daily and weekly activities in the role would include: To analyse site wide activities, and identify gaps in performance/opportunities to improve. Perform time studies identify waste and optimise labour efficiency. Evaluate process flow to ensure NVA content is minimised. Communicate opportunities and work within the operational teams to develop most efficient ways to use people, machines, materials, information, and energy to make a product or service. Map flow of materials across site to define best in class delivery processes including Minimum Reorder Points, Optimum Stock Levels, Packaging Densities and Indirect Labour Utilisation. Link material requirements and production planning to flex stock levels and reduce line side inventory. Use and train 8 waste principles to highlight areas that can be improved. Use mathematical models to simulate improvements and allow cost benefits vs capital expenditure to be reviewed. Prepare shop floor layout alterations and work with engineering team to implement. Create action / timing plans that can be used to measure implementation progress. We are looking for Engineers ideally degree qualified or equivalent in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or similar. Preferably have experience in managing and mentoring other IMechE engineers. Proficient at interpreting and supporting generation of P&IDs, CAD models and plant layouts. Health Safety & Environmental Officer - Tier 1 Automotive Manufacturing - Birmingham - Salary in the region of £45k DOE. Due to some changes in the current team this tier 1 automotive manufacturer based in Birmingham are seeking a driven and professional HSE Officer to support compliance across site for a business with a 17 year history in its current form. The role will see you supporting advising and assisting in the promotion of a high level of awareness and compliance in all aspects of occupational health, safety and environmental management for the Birmingham manufacturing operation. This will consist of the delivery of internal audits and compliance inspections to ensure the business is operating within it's OH&S environmental system (OHSAS18001/ISO45001) and the Environmental Management System (ISO14001). You will control, drive and ensure adherence to audit plans for the site validating EHS standards following the Plan Do Check Act (PDCA). You will also be required to support in the development of safe systems of work. This will include delivering, supporting and training others in conducting Risk Assessments ensuring regular review. It would be great if you can develop and present H&S training packages for mixed ability audiences. Other areas will include testing on site for air quality and noise levels. You will act as site expert on compliance across environmental activities and will consistently police all site activities ensuring safety compliance. This will include organising and delivering site and other safety meetings including a weekly "stand up for safety" activity to ensure you are able to consistently drive awareness and compliance. To ensure capability and best practice you will oversee first aid and emergency responder teams. All functions across site are consistently reviewed and it is expected you will develop an annual review and improvement plan in conjunction with site management ensuring ongoing compliance to all health, safety and environmental legislation. Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer - Days - West Bromwich - Circa £30k plus additional hours. The business is a well know Black Country based manufacturer of automotive components and have a new opportunity to offer a multi skilled Engineer with a background in manufacturing maintenance. Processes on site are along the lines of forged and cast components supporting with CNC machining and all associated testing. Its a solid down to earth environment and the business is now recruiting following external investment into the site and facilities. You will be asked to support with reactive and preventative maintenance to industrial plant machinery and site services. You will also be asked to support, get involved with and contribute to the delivery of projects across site aimed at delivering improvements. The role is based upon working days with some overtime required in the week and some weekends. The basic salary is in the region of £30k however earning potential is higher than this. To be considered you need to be qualified electrically ideally to BTEC level 3, HNC or ONC or NVQ level 3. It is a multi skilled role so mechanical skills would be a great advantage. Days Maintenance Engineer - Multi Skilled

Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer with electrical bias - Day shifts - Oldham - Up to £34k plus additional payments in shift allowance and call out rota. So you are a good multi skilled Engineer with a solid background in manufacturing maintenance, you enjoy your job but hate those 12 hour night shifts and weekends off are a luxury? If this sounds like you then read on, we have a great new opportunity for you to join our client a European leader in the manufacture of consumer chemicals based in Oldham. The role will see you doing the job you know, fault finding on automated PLC controlled equipment, delivering repairs and maintenance to 3 phase motors, drives, gearboxes, pneumatic logic systems, hydraulics and more. It would be great if you know your way around Mitsubishi drives and PLC software from a fault finding perspective but experience on other similar systems will be fine (we can do some training). The company packs its products in several formats from high speed aerosol can filling to blow moulded containers so the role would suit applicants of similar environments or with solid FMCG type backgrounds where lines are fast and automated. Other skills of particular interest would be knowledge and experience of 5s, KAIZAN and TPM principles, it would be ideal if you could identify areas for improvement and support the delivery of projects across line speeds, waste reduction, throughput and similar. ComPex qualifications or working knowledge of chemical manufacturing would be nice, after all its what the site does but not essential. The role is on days, over Monday to Friday (I know, that's pretty rare in maintenance). You will work effectively 06:00 to 14:15 Monday to Friday followed by one week of 8:00 to 18:15 Monday to Thursday. There is a "on call rota" for out of hours support but we do pay extra for this and is roughly one week in six.
