In this technical engineering role within the Quality you will gather field evidence to help ensure our new products work fully every time the customer needs. By understanding the issues of our products in-market and their root causes, and the associated impact on quality perception, they will help to build an evidence-based picture to bring to life the voice of the customer. In this varied role, interacting with multiple engineering disciplines and the wider business, they will drive year-on-year improvements in design quality through all stages of the product lifecycle from inception to end-of-life. Accountabilities Field Intelligence – work with in-market and data processing teams to understand the key issues on products in the field, whether they are reliability, performance or usability issues, and the associated service rates Root-cause analysis – use returned product from market, supported by market data, and drawing on knowledge of design and manufacture, apply innovative problem-solving skills to identify causes of field failure and customer dissatisfaction. Coordinate and oversee root-cause analysis undertaken by specialist and/or overseas teams. Engage with Continuous Improvement Teams within Engineering to share the findings. Risk Reviews – using design and manufacturing experience, assist senior engineers to review prototype rig, FMEA, Verification results and other risk management processes at all stages of development in order to identify reliability/quality concerns and risks. Skills • A degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline or equivalent with some post graduate experience in an engineering or design role. • Extensive experience with 2D/3D modelling using Pro Engineer Wildfire 4(CREO), Solid Works & Solid edge • Experience with ANSYS • Experience of design for injection moulding, including mould flow analysis • Experience of design and process FMEA (Failure Mode Effect Analysis) • Experience of root cause of failure analysis using 5-whys, fishbone diagrams and fault Tree Analysis • Experience of Agile methodologies in product development Benefits Overview Our client monitors the market to ensure competitive salaries and pension contributions.
