Factura fills key Director role at Cranfield

Factura, the Executive Search arm of the Jonathan Lee Group, has sourced a Director of Integrated Vehicle Health Management (IVHM) for Cranfield University's newly formed IVHM Centre (www.Cranfield.ac.uk/ivhm) which opened in November 2008. The successful candidate joined Cranfield in August 2008 and has since been leading the first development activities.

The IVHM Centre is a partnership with core members Boeing, Rolls-Royce, BAe Systems, Meggitt and Thales, which will work with industrial and research partners in all transport sectors (aerospace, rail, automotive and marine) to develop innovative IVHM concepts, solutions and courses.

IVHM is the transformation of system data into information to support vehicle operational decisions that results in:

Reduced life cycle costs
Minimised maintenance actions
Improved readiness and availability
Reduced component and system redundancies

Jim Angus, Commercial Director of the IVHM Centre, commented "The Cranfield Integrated Vehicle Health Management (IVHM) Centre is progressing well with interest remaining high despite the economic slowdown. IVHM is proving to be an increasingly important technology for many sectors".

To fill the role, Factura carried out an international search across both academia and industry to identify candidates with specific technical and commercial competences. The successful candidate is Professor Ian Jennions, CEng, FIMechE, FRAeS, FASME, who brings a wealth of experience in technology transfer, most recently with Rolls-Royce plc.

Professor Jennions said "We've made an enormous amount of progress in the last year from actually building and equipping the Centre to recruiting the staff for the first wave of technical projects. We're talking to a number of companies about joining and in another year we should be fully operational".

"Following an extensive search carried out by our Senior Consultant, Mike Woodhouse, we were able to source Professor Ian Jennions, who possesses a near-perfect blend of skills and experience, and both parties are very happy with the appointment."
