New Chairman for Southern Branch of SAE-UK
Paul Branton, of Jonathan Lee Recruitment in Basildon, has become Chairman of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE-UK) Southern Centre. Jonathan Lee himself was a board member of SAE-UK for over 10 years.
Paul is passionate about bringing young people into engineering and believes that awareness is an essential tool in achieving this goal. He sees his role with the SAE as a chance to promote the wide variety of opportunities within engineering and is keen to introduce more lectures and seminars to inform a broader audience.
Paul believes his position, as divisional manager with one of the leading recruiters in the automotive and aerospace industries, will help him achieve these ambitions.
“Whilst SAE is a global organisation, it is made up of smaller regional centres each of which can make a real difference to the perception of engineering in the wider community. The highly successful Formula Student and World in Motion programmes – both organised by SAE - generate massive interest and demonstrate very well the enthusiasm that engineers have for their subject”, says Paul.
SAE-UK.org aims to improve standards of design, use of materials, methods of manufacturing and safety, recognising environmental and legislative requirements and to encourage the development of automotive technology with the application of new ideas and manufacturing processes. The society further aims to improve the status of personal members within the industry and to provide continuous updating of the developments in technology.
