A Diamond Year for Farnborough Airshow 2008
Jonathan Lee Recruitment once again attended Farnborough Airshow, the company’s fourth year in a row at the event. It was the 60th year for the exhibition itself and it definitely didn’t disappoint.
The credit crunch has apparently not reached Farnborough and it was a bumper year for the international aerospace event. New orders worth approximately $88.7bn (£44.35bn) for some 480 aircraft and equipment systems were announced, a figure which doubled the 2006 record of $42bn.
The exhibition attracted some 132,636 business visitors and 153,000 public visitors on the final weekend, an increase of 23,000 compared to 2006.
Trevor Sidebottom, Managing Director of Farnborough International Ltd (FIL), said: “There is no doubt that Farnborough 2008 has been an outstanding success. We are delighted that Farnborough has witnessed the announcement of many significant orders, in addition to key programme launches and many show highlights.
Jonathan Lee Recruitment also had a successful event, with its exhibitor area located on the SBAC (Society of British Aerospace Companies) stand. The company was visited by some high profile industry figures, including Lembit Opik MP; Phil Willis MP; Digby, Lord ones of Birmingham, Minister of State for Trade and Investment; and Ian Andrews, 2nd Private Secretary at the Ministry of Defence (MOD), as well as many potential clients and candidates.
Jonathan Lee Recruitment also held a charity quiz night to raise funds for Surrey Air Ambulance.
“As one of the leading aerospace recruitment consultancies in the UK, it is crucial for us to attend what is the prominent show of its kind in the world,” commented onathan Lee. “This was the most successful year yet, both for Farnborough and for onathan Lee Recruitment, with our consultants making every effort to meet and network with those in the industry. It is great to see that the market is still going strong despite the economic downturn.”
