Give aspiring engineers inspiration, says leading recruitment

30 years at Jonathan Lee RecruitmentJonathan Lee, the founder and chairman of West-Midlands based specialist engineering and manufacturing recruitment consultancy, Jonathan Lee Recruitment, used the company’s 30th anniversary celebration to call for more inspiration for young people.

He specifically called on schools to encourage pupils into maths and science by making the subjects more attractive, exciting and dynamic.

“Over the decades there have been so many exciting projects including the launch of the first Russian satellite, Sputnik, man taking his first steps on the moon and the aviation icon that was Concorde. These projects certainly inspired young people to look to careers in engineering and manufacturing in the hope of being a part of these and similar historic and momentous events,” said Jonathan Lee.

And he added: “There are just as many exciting projects happening today such as the development of clean technology and space tourism; we just need to tell young children about them in a bid to encourage them to consider a future in engineering and manufacturing. We need to give inspiration to children.”

Jonathan launched his call for inspiration for young people at the company’s 30th anniversary celebration recently. Over 200 guests including the very first candidate placed by the company, gathered to hear inspirational speakers including Falklands war veteran Simon Weston, Ultimo lingerie founder, Michelle Mone and former footballer, Geoff Thomas. Thomas was also given £2,300 which was raised at the event for his charity, the Geoff Thomas Foundation which is committed to the development and delivery of new treatments for cancer and leukaemia patients.
