Case Study - Change Management in the NHS

Our client is a major teaching hospital with a world wide reputation for service, teaching and research and plays a central role in its London based community. They have launched their far reaching service transformation programme, and needed to recruit new members into the change management leadership team.

On personal recommendation, they chose Jonathan Lee Recruitment as their recruitment partner. Our client required candidates with experience in implementing Lean Enterprise. Jonathan Lee Recruitment have been recruiting in this area since 1996 and are highly experienced in providing suitable candidates.

Our client's next challenge was that they did not have the necessary expertise in-house to identify the most appropriate candidates as they have never recruited such specialist professionals before, so they commissioned Integrated HR to design an assessment centre which reflected their competencies and culture.

The assessment centre approach has been proven to yield higher levels of probability in obtaining a successful outcome when compared with other selection methods. Their success is based on selecting appropriate competencies, robust exercise design and using experienced staff in their delivery.

Within 2 weeks the programme had been designed, keeping the client informed at each step of the process to ensure they felt in control. The 1 day programme was delivered by Integrated HR within the hospital premises to give the candidates first hand experience of the environment, using a mixture of proprietary assessment material and bespoke exercises designed to allow the candidates to demonstrate their knowledge of lean principles and adapting their operation to an NHS environment.

Two candidates were successfully identified as meeting the requirement to go forward to final interview, thereby saving the client a significant amount of time spent interviewing and producing an end result with a higher degree of confidence.

All candidates, irrespective of the outcome found the experience challenging and enjoyable, all benefited from the detailed feedback they received from the Integrated HR Consultants after the event.
