Jonathan Lee - Chairman

Jonathan has played a major part in growing the Company from its inception in 1978 and is still very active within the business.

His commercial and manufacturing background within the engineering industry, combined with a period with a London advertising agency, proved to be an excellent training for his recruitment career. He initially joined a Home Counties based consultancy engaged in a major recruitment assignment for Leyland Cars, before opening and running their Midlands office. He left to establish Jonathan Lee Recruitment in 1978 based in Stourbridge.

Jonathan has personally recruited in all functions covering most industries at all levels. He has steered the business, continually improving delivery and providing 'solutions through understanding' whilst maintaining consistent and sustainable growth. Whilst profits are important he has always maintained that high quality of service and reputation are key; profits are a natural consequence. Jonathan now provides the vision for the business, oversees strategic growth and development and focuses on customer service relying on his trusted Managing Director, David Hale, for day to day management of the Company which has 4 UK offices. Jonathan has also been involved in establishing recruitment partners within Western, Central and Eastern Europe, USA and Asia, in a bid to develop a global recruitment capability and is opening a Dubai office. He was recently awarded Honorary Fellowship of the Institute of Recruitment Professionals for his significant contribution to the recruitment industry over a 35 year period.

Jonathan is a keen sportsman and active member of Stourbridge Rugby Club. He also enjoys playing cricket, golf, tennis and skiing, watching motorsport and travelling. He is a keen advocate for the UK engineering and manufacturing industries and encourages children to show interest in science and engineering. He is a former UK Board Member of the SAE, a former member of the CBI West Midlands Council and is a Board Member of The Stourbridge Educational Trust.

David Hale - Managing Director

Before joining Jonathan Lee Recruitment David spent 20 years in the financial services industry, holding Board level position of both a Financial and General Management nature with a FTSE 350 Lloyds Insurance Broker, where he gained both national and international business experience including opening offices in Amsterdam, Paris, and Frankfurt.

David joined Jonathan Lee Recruitment in 1998, initially as Finance and Operations Director before accepting the role of Managing Director in 2001.

David is a qualified Accountant and Chartered Company Secretary and oversees all financial, legal and compliance activities on behalf of the Group. Drawing on his previous M&A experience he has completed several acquisitions for the Jonathan Lee Group over the years and works closely with shareholders and his management team in setting strategy and direction for the business.

Jon Blaze - Head of Recruitment Operations

I am Head of Recruitment Operations at Jonathan Lee Recruitment; this means that I am responsible for our recruitment teams in all our offices across the UK. Before I worked with Jonathan Lee Recruitment, I came from an engineering background, having qualified with a BEng in Manufacturing and Business Studies from the Coventry University in 1994. I worked as a Manufacturing Engineer in the manufacture of heat transfer equipment for commercial vehicles and power generation equipment. I also gained a lot of experience in health and safety and a NEBOSH qualification – I then spent five years in the electronics sector, working in electronics assembly for automotive and industrial controls products in both quality and management roles.

This experience meant that I experienced quick success when I joined Jonathan Lee as a Recruitment Consultant working with the manufacturing team; focusing on production management, maintenance, cost engineering and more. In 2005, I was supported to gain my postgraduate diploma in personnel management and gaining my chartered membership of the CIPD and ultimately completed an MA in Human Resource Management. With this, I moved into a role as Regional Manager of our East Midlands team based in the Leicester branch, developing our presence in the region – a role I held until 2012, when I became Head of Recruitment Operations.

My current role is an exciting and very strategic one; in short I ensure our managing consultants and their respective teams have the structure and operational framework we need to ensure we exceed our customers’ expectations – ultimately driving our success. This means thinking ahead and developing programmes and processes to support the development of our Industry Focused Teams (IFTs) and the individuals within them. This is an exciting challenge, where I have to balance our desire to constantly improve and align our recruitment operations with market conditions, and the general management that you'd expect someone in my position to be responsible for.

Jonathan Lee Recruitment presented me with a unique opportunity to utilise the skills I have gained in technical and management roles in a consultative setting with a wide variety of clients and a complex mix of technical and human skills requirements. As well as applying the knowledge I have gained in my career to the recruitment business, the roles I have undertaken have meant that I have continually developed new skills and learned a phenomenal amount about sectors I would never otherwise have been engaged in. I am privileged to have worked with some of the best-known businesses in the world and the very best candidates the market has to offer, in an organisation whose people set the highest standards in our drive to be the customer’s first choice.
