UK Sales Manager - Rail

We are looking for a UK Sales Manager - Rail for a world leading multi-national engineering company that offers a full service, maintenance, and repair capability for various industries specifically here the Rail industry.

The Sales Manager would be responsible for managing existing key accounts and new Business Development and cross selling/up-selling in the Rail market. Delivering agreed business objectives and being a strategic thinker with solid planning, analytical skills and a passion for growth.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Able to develop and deploy a comprehensive business plan for the market with detailed competitor and market analysis
  • Establish, develop and maintain existing and new customers through planned individual account support
  • Work with fellow Sales and Marketing colleagues to improve client acquisition and retention
  • Identify potential for growth through service offering, marketing and sales efforts
  • Gain long term service commitments from assigned and new accounts from a proactive approach to the market
  • Identify cross selling opportunities from national accounts within a strategic market with a view to winning frame work arrangements
  • Provide support to customers during initial phase of an engagement. Follow up and ensure total customer satisfaction through the life cycle of the relationship
  • Support major project activity from lead to finalising sales
  • Setting budgets / targets
  • Negotiate pricing and contractual terms as required and in line with company guidelines
  • Analyse sales margin and order statistics on a monthly basis for inclusion in Monthly Report
  • Provide monthly sales forecasts to ensure customer service commitment is achieved
  • Plan and carry out direct marketing activities to agreed budgets, sales volumes, values, product mix and timescales
  • Ensure company sales process is adhered to and the CRM system is fully maintained and up to date
  • Produce territory and sales forecasts, reports and statistical information.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • 5 years' experience in a Sales/BD environment, preferably selling similar products and services into the region
  • Strong presentation skills via spoken and written media
  • Ability to prepare and present business documentation, quotations and proposals
  • A full driving license
  • Strong IT & numeracy skills
  • Able to demonstrate success managing major accounts, large contracts and achieving genuine sales development

Desirable

  • Degree educated or equivalent in an engineering or business discipline - Desirable
  • Experience using a CRM package preferred
  • Experience of the Rail electro-mechanical industry
  • Strong engineering background is preferred

Location:

Although the company is Birmingham based, they are flexible on the UK Sales Manager's location.
