Traction and Rolling Stock Engineers - Birmingham

We are looking for Traction and Rolling Stock (T&RS) Engineers From Graduate to Principal Engineer Level for a leading company in railway rolling stock engineering technology installation and upgrading, to be based at their Birmingham facilities. Where they provide services for vehicle enhancement and systems integration and the provision of high quality turnkey project and consultancy services to maximise vehicle utilisation and performance.

The T&RS Engineers will undertake the engineering required to integrate technology, safety and reliability enhancements onto rolling stock under turnkey projects. This extends from contract award, through design, material procurement, validation and installation. They will occasionally be required to undertake consultancy support work for customers.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for delivering solutions to a range of engineering problems related to passenger and freight rolling stock.
  • Produce non-drawing technical documentation associated with a project, and support the design department in the production of engineering drawings
  • Through value engineering, identify and specify components, and provide technical support to the procurement team.
  • Undertake vehicle surveys.
  • Liaise with customers and suppliers.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Engineering qualification at degree level, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience within a Rail Rolling Stock Engineering or Design Environment.
  • Experience of technical report writing.
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office.
  • A good appreciation of the various rail vehicle systems.
  • Excellent at administration, time management and planning.
  • The ability to work alone and unsupervised, or as part of a team.
