Technical Sales Executive - Rail

We are seeking a Technical Sales Executive to be focused on the UK Rail Industry for a product which has been developed for a wide number of track and rolling stock applications. This is a major opportunity to join a small fast growing team which has spent the past 10 years gaining Rail approvals that now need to commercialise the product and gain first choice adoption UK wide. The Technical Sales Executive will manage existing customers, identify new business opportunities and convert them into sales to meet the company targets for growth and profitability.

Responsibilities & Duties include:

  • Development/maintenance of excellent customer relationships at all levels
  • Budget responsibility for a designated customer/prospect portfolio
  • Sell the full product portfolio throughout the UK, providing technical support to customers for installations
  • delivery, events and demonstrations
  • Focus on consultative sales to Rail/Rolling Stock Industry whilst building awareness of the company's products and services
  • Develop a modern, engineering problem solving partnership approach with customers
  • Identify and pursue sales leads/opportunities and prospective customers
  • Identify customer needs through detailed market knowledge and meetings
  • Negotiate with customers and secure long term, profitable commitment
  • Contribute to strategy, operations and development of business
  • Continually develop and improve operating practises within Sales and Marketing
  • Able to travel away from home regularly, as the position may require extensive UK travel
  • Represent the organisation at trade exhibitions, events and demonstrations
  • Effective use of social media
  • Provide the Sales and Management Team with market activity feedback
  • Plan, prepare and deliver responses to ITT/RFQ presentations and proposals
  • Communicate new product development to prospective customers
  • Maintain database accurately and in a timely manner



Experience and Qualifications

  • Significant sales and business development experience in the rail sector
  • Significant network in UK Rail market
  • Demonstrable sales successes and growth
  • Self-motivated and extremely focused, work on own initiative
  • Able to adopt an advisory, consultative approach when selling products, with a can-do attitude.
  • Excellent IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong commercial flair, applies the highest ethical standards in all dealings and transactions
  • Driving Licence - Essential
