Systems Engineers - Melksham

We are looking for a Systems Engineers for a world leading Systems supplier for the design, manufacture of Sub- systems to the rail industry for Platform Screen Door and Braking systems at their facility in Melksham Wiltshire.

The Systems Engineer will act as the focal point for customers for technical requirements on tenders, contracts and development projects. They will ensure that the system proposed fully meets the requirements of the contract and all relevant standards. They will lead the resolution of any technical issues the customer may have with equipment supplied by the company.

Main Responsibilities/Duties:

  • System design to ensure the requirements of a customer specification and relevant standards are met
  • Liaison with the customer on all related Engineering issues, acting as the KB technical lead
  • Agreement of all mechanical and electrical interfaces for system components and assemblies with the customer
  • Production of documents to define equipment design
  • Working with all other departments to ensure design requirements are achieved
  • Commissioning and testing of the system
  • Production and presentation of training courses to the customer
  • Investigations into problems experienced with the system during the commissioning phase and in service
  • The candidate must be able to drive and be prepared to travel in the UK and overseas to Europe and Asia to meet customers for tender and project meetings and for commissioning / fault investigations

Professional experience and/or qualifications:

  • Qualification to at least HNC, but preferably degree level in Mechanical / Electrical or Electronic Engineering
  • Experience with the engineering of multi-disciplinary systems
  • Experience of interpreting and producing technical specifications would be of significant benefit
  • Have the confidence in acting as the technical lead in front of customers and internally
  • The ability to understand complex multi-disciplinary systems in detail and explain them to others
  • An enthusiasm to learn about new products, topics, tools and techniques as systems technology develops


  • Salary - £40,000 to £49,000 - dependent upon experience.
