Software Process and Quality Engineer - 32436 - up to £30.71/hr Ltd Co - Gaydon, Warwickshire

A Software Process and Quality Engineer is required to work for a prestigious leading automotive OEM based in the Heart of the Midlands. The position will be a long term contract role based in Gaydon, Warwickshire. Our client requires someone with passion and drive to join their team. This role is for a software process and quality engineer, with the responsibility to define, deploy and monitor ongoing compliance of best practice software processes and development methods across the business and software development partners.
The role has a particular focus on Networking, Gateway and Body Electronics applications. Team tasks include development of the Gateway Module software and hardware, including working with a large team of software engineers split between on-shore and off-shore locations.

Typical activities include defining and deploying processes and process enhancements, monitoring ongoing software quality process compliance, guiding and coaching other team members where required, including leading the deployment of process, method and tool improvements.


To apply for this position you should have the following:

- Thorough understanding of software quality process frameworks such as ASPICE, CMMI or similar, including practical deployment experience.
- Strong communication skills and a passion for quality, confident guiding and coaching others.
- Understanding of software development processes, methods and tools, including requirements, change management and version control, and associated process control documentation.

Other experience includes:

- Practical experience defining and deploying best practice software process frameworks such as ASPICE, CMMI or similar.
- Process compliance monitoring, including tracking and guiding resolution of process improvements.
- Thorough understanding of software development, integration and release processes throughout the product lifecycle, including associated methods and tools.
- Highly motivated and self-starting individual with effective communication and influencing skills. Confident guiding and coaching others.
- Experienced in authoring robust software documentation.
- Knowledge of MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project) and Google Docs
- Understanding of IBM Rational tools or similar development environments, e.g. DOORS, RTC, JIRA, Redmine, SVN, PTC or similar.
- Experience working with offshore software development teams and / or 3rd party ECU suppliers
- Understanding of software and system engineering principles and ECU / software architecture, plus vehicle electrical architectures, including code based and model based development

Education Required

- Degree in Electronics, Computer Science / Software, Automotive / Aerospace / Telecoms engineering or similar subject, or equivalent industry experience

Additional Information:

- Primarily located at Gaydon.
- Occasional travel to other sites may be required including overseas.
- Safety footwear will be required in workshop / manufacturing areas.


In return for your experience offer:

- Hourly rate of up to £30.71 Ltd
- Long term contract initially until March 2018 with potential to be renewed yearly
- Experience working with a leading automotive OEM
