Senior Process Engineer (Electrical/ Electronic)

Are you a qualified Process Engineer with a strong background in electrical/electronic manufacturing processes? If so we require a Senior Process Engineer to work for as leading engineering/scientific consultancy based in West Sussex.


Role & responsibilities

* Working as part of a Broader NPI team
* Design, development and maintenance of manufacturing process for current and future Programmes.
* Management of Process documentation (DFA, DFM, Build Process, Process Control plan, PFMEA's & LRR)
* Specification and design of equipment layouts and material flows
* Specification, procurement, commissioning installation and maintenance of tooling and equipment for future products.
* Support production of Prototype assemblies.
* Support the production team to improve production quality and efficiency.
* Support of production line tooling and equipment to support manufacturing processes.
* Continuous improvement of the manufacturing processes to deliver to cost, lean, quality and delivery performance targets.

Key Skills Required

* Self-Starter and good facilitation skills
* Strong interpersonal, team working and collaboration skills. Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation and with customers and suppliers.
* Electrical / Electronic background knowledge
* Electrical / Electronic manufacturing processes including:
- Knowledge of electronics assembly techniques
- Wiring harness assembly
- Mechanical assembly techniques
- Electrical product test equipment
* Manufacturing test strategies & Product validation
* Statistical process capability analysis (Cpk, test analysis and process control techniques)
* High voltage electrical awareness
* ESD awareness (risks & precautions)
* Proven ability in resolving quality problems of a technical nature to process (8D)
* Understanding of managing and improving assembly tasks.
* Understanding in relevant manufacturing methods and detailed drawing dimensioning
* Extensive Knowledge in manufacturing process and documentation including: DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plan including relevant component inspection process and procedures
* Understanding in SQA including APQP and PPAP of components (Including ISO9000 & ISO14000 & TS16949)
* Excellent IT skills
* Flexibility to frequent travel & a Clean driving licence.



* Relevant Degree or HND equivalent in Engineering and or Manufacturing
* Electronic and/ Electric Systems Process engineering and Assembly
* Electrical / Electronic / Electromechanical manufacturing environment
* Product validation techniques
* In process and end of line testing techniques for electrical / electromechanical products
* Statistical process control
* Good level of understanding of assembly design and processes.
* Development, implementation and operation of manufacturing processes to achieve quality standards in a series production environment.
* Working within a Quality framework.
* Continuous process improvement.
* Good understanding of low volume, high value production.


* Experience of working in a production environment for an automotive customer.
* Experience of low volume/Niche build Process and Procedures
