Resident Engineer

Do you have strong customer facing skills and a strong background in automotive manufacturing processes? If so we are recruiting a Resident Engineer to provide key liaison functions in Engineering, Logistics, and Quality, on site at the JLR Engine Manufacturing Centre, Wolverhampton, ensuring all company related issues are resolved on time and in line with the customer's expectations.


  • Work in a cross functional role as part of the Engineering, Supply Chain and Quality teams to deliver a best in class service to JLR.
  • Ensure a good working relationship is maintained with JLR EMC with any concerns reported to the Engineering Manager.
  • Provide JLR Engineering with an initial evaluation of technical concerns that require investigation in plant, to determine if Quality, process or design related, with escalation to the Engineering Manager as required.
  • Maintain an accurate Bill of Materials for all plant vehicle lines ensuring CMM (Change Management) data is kept up to date on the BoM.
  • Support on site change management processes to ensure Engineering changes are implemented on time with zero disruption to production.
  • Validate BoM to ensure accuracy of downstream material demand, and BoM cost.
  • If not already competent, receive training to interrogate the JLR Engineering Release System (WERS), and data stored on the company shared drives, to assist in effective change management.
  • Participate in TVM activities.
  • Detect misuse of product during production and manage corrective actions.
  • Attend JLR Product Engineering and Launch meetings as required
  • Knowledge of and adherence to ISO 14001 and TS16949
  • To assist as required with any other reasonable request in line with business needs or customer/client requirements
  • Engineering or Automotive Manufacturing qualification preferred.
  • A working knowledge of MS Office, Excel/Word etc.
  • Demonstrate and lead by example the company core values

  • Prior Engineering experience in an Automotive or manufacturing environment.

Ideal candidates will be qualified and have experience of using Jaguar/ Land Rover systems and processes (WERS/AIMS etc), alternatively other Automotive manufacturing processes would be an advantage. Interested candidates should apply to this advert or contact Katharine Bignell for more information.
