Principal Design Engineer

An opportunity has become available for a Principal Design Engineer to join a global engineering consultancy who employs over 3000 consultants around the globe.

Based in Leamington Spa, you will work with industry recognised experts to deliver cutting edge engineering solutions.

You will be rewarded with an lucrative salary ranging from £45,000 to £60,000 per year and benefits packages.

The successful design Engineer will primarily focus on the creation of technical solutions, this role also requires proven team leadership capability and offers commercial development opportunity and you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • The delivery of technical solutions (often new or novel to meet demanding client requirements) for large transmission and driveline system multi-year projects of up to £10m.
  • Lead Cross functional delivery teams, typically encompassing; mechanical transmission elements, electrical machine integration, hydraulic or electro-mechanical actuation systems and control system integration, calling upon domain specialist expertise support required.
  • Provide senior input and approval to proposals, presentations and concepts/ reports/ drawing etc. Including leading client meetings and providing significant customer management.
  • Responsible for all technical and potentially commercial aspects of project delivery of self and team,as well as awareness of and adherence to common project management techniques.
  • Leading technical authority for the company in chosen area, shaping company position on subject, promotes excellence both internal and externally.
  • Project Variety, encompassing many different customer markets, highly varied product sectors e.g. automotive, heavy duty, off highway, industrial, agricultural, military, oil and gas, aerospace, energy, generation, rail, marine etc and any or all project phases, from clean sheet production.

The ideal person would have the following:

  • Typically a Degree or knowledge gained through experience and/or further study
  • Experience of delivering a range of project types (e.g. concept generation, prototype development, production release / problem resolution and or control system development and calibration) in a powertrain related field in addition to technical and commercial management experience
  • Will have experience in design, analysis, test and development, manufacturing or control related powertrain disciplines.
