Operations Manager

My client are a large multi-national packaging manufacturer.

The Operations Manager manages the full P&L of the business, with strategic and operational responsibilities covering production, sales and finance. He/She is responsible for delivering results in line with the strategic plan whilst maintaining the companies reputation for quality and service as a market leader in the packaging industry

Working with a team of 4 Managers, the person needs to ensure the correct strategies and action plans are in place to maximise our strengths, generate new opportunities and grow the business both in terms of Revenue and EBITDA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales
    • Pricing strategy & implementation
    • Sales Development
      • Sales Analyses & reporting
      • Setting Sales Improvement Plans for external and internal sales
      • Reviewing product mix and opportunities to add to traded items
      • Visiting key accounts & coach Sales Manager
      • Dealing with any major customer complaints
    • Oversee Commercial Backoffice
      • Set priorities to ensure excellent customer service & business growth
      • Ensure required production & logistics information is provided
    • Marketing
  • Production & Logistics
    • Supplier Management & Negotiation
    • Cost Control
      • Calculating the cost base for all products against which pricing is set
      • Calculating optimal raw materials to use in production
      • Identifying cost saving opportunities and Earnings Improvement Plans
      • Managing expenditure in line with budget versus requirement
    • Production Planning
      • Plan efficient and achievable production runs to offer good lead times yet build economic run sizes and ensuring the most economic materials are available at the right time with the minimum of handling
  • Production analysis and strategy
    • Reviewing Production KPI's and setting targets
    • Overseeing any major production projects such as layout changes, line expansions, new product introductions
  • Finance
    • Setting all cost aspects of the annual Plan
    • Overseeing Financial Reporting
  • General
    • Ensuring appropriate Health & Safety policies & procedures in place
    • Responsible for all aspects of HR & Payroll
    • Responsible for all Lease, facilities and building related matters
    • Responsible for all accreditations such as ISO & Sedex
