Manufacturing Engineer - Somerset

Our client, a leading manufacturer of military vehicle systems, is looking to recruit a Manufacturing Engineer to work as part of a team to develop and manufacture solutions for the range of products.

Key Responsibilities for the Manufacturing Engineer:

  • Understanding the requirements of AS9100 quality system and the effect on manufacturing solutions
  • Providing manufacturing solutions to a cost and time effective plan
  • Checking the availability of all standard tooling and gauges and inspection equipment
  • Providing working stage drawings using Solid Works System to support shop-floor manufacturing
  • Providing CNC programmes for CNC Machines
  • Maintaining a Kan-Ban and tool vending system to support manufacturing of component
  • Designing jigs & fixtures to enable cost effective and efficient manufacturing processes
  • Preparing Bills of Materials (for make to print components)
  • Supporting customer bids; sourcing and pricing of materials goods & services, detailing manufacturing processes and times
  • Leading the installation, commission and acceptance of new capital expenditure
  • Continuous improvement of current manufacturing processes, fixtures, and tooling

Skills and Experience required for the Manufacturing Engineer:

  • Degree level or equivalent in relevant engineering discipline
  • Extensive knowledge of machining processes
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of Edgecam and Solidworks
  • Able to work at pace in a multi-project environment
  • Excellent communicator with good problem-solving skills
  • Able to obtain a UK SC clearance
  • Familiarity with ITAR and UK Export legislation desirable
