Maintenance Team Leader

A multi skilled maintenance engineer Team Leader is required for a permanent job with a large automated warehousing systems provider in the West Yorkshire area. The site is on the grounds of a leading household name where our client holds the contract for all automation and robotics within a FMCG environment.

Reporting directly to the site manager, the maintenance team leader job comes with a basic salary of £38,000 per year plus £5,000 shift allowance following a Panama shift pattern. Our client hopes to meet interested and suitable candidates as soon as possible due to the most recent post holder moving within the company to a new job.

About the role:

  • Provide a first-class site response to the customer, ensuring as far as reasonably practical a first-time right policy.
  • Provide emergency breakdown and maintenance support. On all equipment and software issues on the installed equipment
  • Take part Issue Management and the internal escalation process on all related maintenance issues, in partnership with the customer.
  • Create strong effective working relationships with customers and your team
  • Controlling maintenance activities on site, ensuring speed of response and quality of repair and standards of workmanship.
  • Provide maintenance support on other issues as well as the installed system
  • Co-ordinate a team of site technicians and third-party repair companies on their activities on site.
  • Supervising a team of 9 existing staff

Maintenance Team Leader Core Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Quality of Service by ensuring good quality communications throughout role
  • Report writing
  • Regular meetings with the Site Engineering Manager and Head Office Service Co-ordinator to discuss activities and progress
  • Ensuring suppliers maintenance visits are kept up to date
  • Provide maintenance service support
  • Ensuring the company equipment is in well maintained condition
  • Provide flexibility and the best use of skills and capabilities of the maintenance team on site
  • Ensure that all time sheets and documentation is correct and legible with all the correct job numbers entered
  • Team leading/supervision responsibilities
  • Communicating with the customer's nominated service contact on site co-ordinator as and when necessary.


  • HNC/HND/ONC Apprenticeship/BTEC, City and Guilds in appropriate subjects. Electrical & Mechanical Engineering.
  • Knowledge and understanding in Control software at PC and PLC level
  • Minimum 6 years' experience in a relevant industry or service.
  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally, clear concise writing skills
  • Demonstrable experience in man management
  • Experience of having operated a CMMS system preferred.
  • Proven track record in service maintenance
  • Minimum of an I.O.S.H qualification in Health and Safety preferred support, and or building services
