Group Buyer - Staffordshire - c. £45,000

Experienced procurement professional required by the one of the World's leading niche vehicle manufacturers with over 22 engineering facilities across the globe. This successful, innovative organisation seeks a Group Buyer for one of its Staffordshire based facilities. As Group Buyer, you will be responsible for supplier performance with respect to NPI (New Product Introduction), Quality, Cost, Risk and Management.

The Role

Ensure that materials are purchased at the most competitive prices worldwide, on time and to the required specifications.

  • Based in the Business Unit (BU) and focused upon providing a BU specific purchasing service for the BU controlled materials.
  • Taking immediate direction from the BU within a structure provided by Group Purchasing.
  • Early Supplier Engagement - working within the NPI process to leverage NQCRPM at product launch.
  • Work in conjunction with and support the Purchase Project Lead to deploy the NPI Process
  • Provide guidance to the Prototype Buyers through category strategy for categories responsible for
  • Supplier Nomination
  • Driving forward quality PPM improvements and PPAP/APQP compliance, supporting supplier quality clinics where appropriate.
  • Work alongside Supplier Development Engineers dealing with APQP, Project Readiness and supplier exit strategies
  • Cost reduction - achieving annual cost reduction targets
  • Cost management - driving improved levels of transparency focusing on Quotation Analysis Forms
  • Working with the global teams to understand Lowest Total Cost of Acquisition for specific categories of responsibility
  • Implement Long Term Agreements with assigned suppliers where appropriate
  • Lead Global Supplier Relationship Management activities for suppliers
  • Work with the Global Business Units and key functions to develop and deploy Global Category Strategies

The Person

We are looking for a procurement professional with proven detailed knowledge of Purchasing tools including:

Cost Tracking Tools, Cost Breakdown and key elements of cost build up


Negotiation Techniques - preparation, planning and execution

Development of Contracts

Strategy Development

Category Management

Supplier Development

You will have gained your experience working within a complex manufacturing environment and be familiar with manufacturing processes, global sourcing, NPI, simultaneous engineering.

We are seeking a procurement professional who has a proven track record of Commodity Strategy development. You will demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills and good personal organisation.
