Quality Engineer (Powertrain) - Wolverhampton - up to £21 per hour

An opportunity has arisen for a Quality Engineer to work within Powertrain at this luxury automotive OEM based in the Wolverhampton area, and may require some travel to UK plants to support vehicle build. Working as an Engineering Quality Engineer to lead and support the build of pre-production and production engines through production ramp up and into steady state.

The role includes but is not limited to: warranty management and investigation, process verification, progress chasing, specification validation, supporting PD launch team and solution of any issues as they present themselves.

A key element of the role is investigating technical issues, developing and deploying resolutions along with communication of information to the manufacturing team in a timely manner to maintain quality and production. Supporting engine plant and vehicle operations with engineering concerns with close links into the EMC plant quality team. There are practical elements to the role as well as administration. The role is fast moving and exciting and is an opportunity to become involved in the launch phases of new engine range, continuing into production steady state volume.

Skills Required:

  • Strong communication skills and team working at all levels with the personality to build relationships with various functions and departments throughout the business
  • A good working knowledge of combustion engines, including components, interactions between components and the risks associated with quality deviations
  • Practical experience of root cause analysis and the associated quality tools (i.e. 8D, PPS, DMAICR, Fishbone, Is-Is Not, DOE, etc.)

Experience Required:

A manufacturing engineering background is essential, with demonstrable experience of dealing with multiple projects / activities whilst simultaneously prioritising a workload.

A background of working in a high volume automotive manufacturing industry, as this will demonstrate resilience in a fast paced production experience.

Previous new product launch experience would be an advantage, as project management is a key responsibility.

This position would be suitable for a degree educated engineer.

Additional Information:

Experience of managing or leading teams and projects and involvement in new plant startup would be advantageous.
