Electrical Controls Engineer - PLC Programmer

A Electrical Controls Engineer is required to work at a leading solutions provider of container sealing technology.

Such responsibilities will be focused on the PLC programming aspect of the production plant.

Other duties will include -

  • To maintain the plant to the highest standards
    * Be flexible in dealing with out of hours calls, assisting with 24/5 shift cover and working some weekends
    * Be technical lead within the team on electrical control systems
    * To ensure knowledge and experience is shared freely and openly with colleagues
    * Carry out projects and modifications from concept to completion
    * Provide day to day support to days maintenance team and shift engineers, both controls and electrical
    * Liaise with external contractors
    * Be Up-to-date with the latest UK/European safety requirements and legislation for electrics
    * Carry out safety reviews and risk assessments on all machines ensuring a safe environment
    * Electrical Controls engineer required to manage the automated control systems in our Slough manufacturing plant
    * Work with the UK Engineering Manager/ Team Leader in increasing and optimising efficiency on the production lines
    * Ensure the smooth running of the controls section within the production plant, respond to breakdowns, projects, PPM

The ideal candidate will be experienced in elec/controls and plc's. Such sectors are seen as a bonus ( MCG, Automotive, Food, Packaging, Extrusion ). The following skills below are also required or a close match -

* 3 phase motors, drives, inverters, DC motors, control gear, instrumentation experience essential
* Must be able to work under pressure to deadlines and be flexible
* Analytically - demonstrate a logical approach to fault finding. Use data analysis to base decisions on
* Communication skills - report writing, verbal reasoning and data presentation and analysis
* Strong problem solving skills and diagnostic ability both reactive and proactive
* Experience in a similar manufacturing role an advantage but not essential
* Technical college: recognised maintenance engineering apprenticeship, C&G,ONC, HNC, Degree
* PLC, drives, HMI, SCADA experience essential, Allan Bradley, Siemens S7, Parker Eurotherm desirable
