A Driveline Engineer / Design Lead Engineer is required to work for one of the world's leading manufacturers of off-highway machinery and diesel and natural gas engines. The position will be a long term contract role based in Wolverhampton.

The Small Drive train team has engineering responsibility for all for ITDD small transmissions. To support our needs to increase our responsiveness to OEM customers, accelerate our cost reduction plans and develop new product solutions. We require an experienced design engineer.

As a Design Engineer, working with Global Drivetrain engineering teams, you will have the opportunity to direct and participate in the design and development of current and new drive-train product concepts and complex engineering projects. With a good understanding of engineering principles and how to apply them to the end to end design process. Major focus of this job is on technical delivery. With the ability to communication technical information in a concise and accurate manner.

Job Duties and responsibilities

  • Contribution and identification, analysis and resolution of problems.
  • Perform complex analysis work, identify and resolve design problems.
  • Work directly with different organisations, suppliers, customers and teams.
  • With the ability to make fact based decisions that may affect project deliverables.
  • Good analytical skills and understanding of engineering fundamentals.
  • Manage design work to meet cost, reliability and performance targets for part or system.
  • Develop drawings and models within Pro/Engineer and release through chosen PLM.
  • Coordinate product test, prove design and prototype build and test.
  • Ability to develop plans and execute to those.
  • Communicate technical information to customers, team members, suppliers and other partners.

Qualifications:

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent.
  • Pro/Engineering competence.
  • Off-highway machine experience, desirable.
  • Experience of driveline development, design, installation & validation
  • In depth knowledge engineering to release processes.
  • Ability to self direct but also work effectively in a diverse team environment.
  • Proven mechanical engineering design competence in the field of component/system design and validation.
