Diesel Aftertreatment Calibration Engineer - 51126 - Up to £20.84 Ltd Co - Automotive

A Diesel Aftertreatment Calibration Engineer is required with demonstrable hands on experience in some aspects of Diesel Aftertreatment calibration and clear understanding of those elements in which there is no direct experience for a position based in Essex.

Our client, a global automotive OEM based in Basildon requires a Diesel Aftertreatment Calibration Engineer to:

  • Support Lead engineers regarding hardware subsystem acceptance testing prior to commencement of calibration work (including FIE and other rig-based work).
  • Guide and support the development of engine set point calibration on dyno (to meet all commodity objectives for regeneration & rich modes).
  • Lead calibration work to provide transient performance to program target (dyno and vehicle) for Aftertreatment specific modes and transitions.
  • Demonstrate vehicle drive cycle regeneration capability on dyno, in facility and on the track for Aftertreatment specific modes and transitions.
  • Meet combustion noise / stability and other vehicle cascaded requirements to ensure outstanding driveability, performance, refinement and conformity for Aftertreatment specific modes and transitions.
  • Calibrate on dyno and in vehicle for environmental conditions including hot, cold and high altitude.
  • Lead powertrain issue identification and resolution; coordinate calibration best common practises, processes and procedures though Tech Spec.
  • Carry out and coordinate regeneration mode testing required enabling calibration robustness / sign-off and documentation of results.
  • Support the vehicle lead calibration engineer in the execution of his duties.

The Diesel Aftertreatment Calibration Engineer should have the following skills:

  • Diesel combustion, calibration and optimisation methodologies, control and rich mode calibration and transition.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of LNT and SCR systems and the scheduling and control of these.
  • Educated to Degree level in relevant engineering /science
  • Graduates with experience of calibration and or aftertreatment will be considered.
