Engineering Benchmarking and Innovation sits within Value Engineering and Teardown, which falls under the Purchasing organisation. The purpose of the team is to provide sophisticated benchmarking services that determine how competitors engineer their cars to deliver customer and brand experience. We do this by competitor vehicle benchmarking, value engineering, idea generation, innovation, and programme application.

As the Value Engineering Engineer, you'll work with the rest of the Value Engineering and Teardown team as well as other cross-functional teams to build a comprehensive understanding of competitor vehicles. In this highly specialist and technical role, you'll develop a schedule of interactions and workshops with the Technical Specialists for your product group to identify opportunities for improvement within areas such as engineering, technology process, systems, etc. In addition, you'll be substantially involved in the application of value engineering and systematic innovation tools. With your team looking to continually improve our tools and techniques to increase engagement, improve the conversion of idea to implementation, and build the reputation of the department, you'll take on the role of an investigator, analyst, facilitator and coach. As such, you'll enable your product group Technical Specialists to compile high-value engineering system strategies.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

In this all-encompassing role, you'll need a broad level of experience, including excellent engineering or manufacturing knowledge and awareness. Because you'll be working with internal stakeholders, a consultative sales and coaching approach will be needed, and experience of promoting your role and department within the business will be important. In addition, you'll have an open mind to generating ideas across value engineering and systematic innovation, including the ability to present these ideas to large groups. Finally, you'll be experienced in engaging and then working across multiple projects and multi-functional teams.
