An Asset General Manager with substantial power generation industry, commercial compliance and engineering asset management experience is sought to oversee the life cycle management of the our clients extensive renewable industry assets. Based in Holborn, Central London this company established in April 2013 has operations across Europe and the Middle East and is 100% owned by a global integrated business enterprise which is taking a leading role in the environmental and infrastructure business field. The business is currently made up of wind assets in the Netherlands and France, solar assets in Portugal, France and Spain and thermal power units under operation and construction in Jordan and Qatar with future plans to expand into novel energy storage fields. Investments typically include a relatively high level of project financing from third party banks.

An important element of this role will be to develop close working relationships with project partners to manage technical, construction and operational issues across their asset portfolio in the UK, Europe and Middle East to ensure the project delivery in line with the business plan.

As the Asset General Manager your principal duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Monitor operational performance of assets and make recommendations to optimise power production and address any major availability issues or limiting factors.
  • Oversight of asset construction progress against plan including contingency management and negotiation/interaction with contractors.
  • Early identification of operational/technical risks to ensure timely mitigation.
  • Ensure that safety, environmental obligation are properly managed at the project level.
  • Work closely with project partners to ensure that activities are consistent with Shareholder Agreements for project companies,
  • Work closely or seconded to project partners to gain insight and share experience of Asset management processes.
  • Work closely with the finance team in the budget planning process and actual review for each project, to assess accuracy of midterm budget.
  • Work closely with the Asset management team to define technical goals and targets for a portfolio Asset class. Responsible for implementing under specific workstreams targeted improvements to monitoring and assessment of our Assets.
  • Support to Director of Asset Management in documenting transformation in asset management procedures both internally and externally.

To be considered for this role we are seeking an individual with extensive power industry experience in a project development, project management, asset management role or similar. A strong technical understanding with the ability to resolve detail issues and to understand and communicate complex technical matters to non-technical colleagues at all levels is essential and you will ideally be a chartered engineer in an appropriate Electrical or Mechanical discipline. Excellent business and financial acumen including experience of SPA, SHA, EPC and PPA contracts is required and experience in the renewable energy industry, including principally Offshore Wind and/or Solar Power. Experience gained in HV electrical or local distribution in a Utility setting would be viewed advantageously.
