Application Engineer - Thermal - Chelmsford - £Comp

A Tier 1 supplier of Thermal Management solutions requires an Application Engineer to act as the primary technical interface to the customer for electromechanical pump and/or valve design related topics for designated programs. The Application Engineer, based in Chelmsford, will lead design and release of new electromechanical pump and/or valve end items including:

  • Meet customer specific application package and engineering requirements
  • Support Americas engine thermal management new business pursuits
  • Provide all necessary engineering deliverables to support customer new model program(s)
  • Support internal program reviews with technical deliverables and support manufacturing as necessary to successfully launch new electromechanical pump and valve designs
  • Develop concept designs, lead cross-functional team in quote package development and product development lead for customer technical reviews.
  • Interface with existing as well as potential OE or Tier 2 customers
  • Negotiate packaging space and design trade-offs
  • Provide direction to CAD, CAE, and test personnel
  • Lead program specific DFMEA
  • Conduct application specific testing and customer Report (DVP&R)
  • Support Program Management to ensure all engineering deliverables are completed on time and properly documented

The Application Engineer - Thermal Management will be degree qualified with a demonstrable ability to support the design, development, test and new product launch including:

  • Electronics for Electromechanical devices and Automotive Communication Protocol knowledge beneficial
  • Understanding of automotive Climate, Engine Cooling, and Battery Cooling architectures
  • Experience in design of automotive components
  • Experience in quality disciplines such as DFMEA, etc
  • Understanding of automotive product test methodologies and equipment
  • Ability to apply Design for Manufacturing and Assembly concepts
  • Experienced in project planning and management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with Automotive APQP process
